Denise's Days (Comments Welcome!)

hey denise, just checking in on you :wave2:

i know sharon already said it, but yeah, i don't think it matters when you drink your water. i mean, i guess if you drank a whole gallon in one sitting, that might not be so good. i know there's only a certain amount your body can absorb in a certain amount of time, but i think the way you did it was fine. and i think there is such a thing as "too much" water, but it's some crazy amount involving many many gallons. there is such a thing as water poisoning? something like that, but don't worry, you're no where near it :)

sorry that the bloat fairy has shown up. i skipped my period entirely last month, but eerily enough, the bloat fairy still managed to stop by. craziness. hope that bloat starts to go down soon.

that walk you took with dh sounds absolutely wonderful. and only 4 weeks to disney!!! i'm beyond jealous

hope that weigh in went okay for you this morning, even with the bloat fairy lurking around. also hope you had a great day today :sunny:

Whew! What a long day yesterday. DH and I are trying to get a ton of grad work done; we have deadlines quickly approaching. We did take one long break for a walk, but other than that we've been very busy. We're working again today, but I will try to get caught up on journals sometime this evening or tomorrow morning. I thought I'd start with mine since I didn't even get to post on it yesterday. Marcia and Sharon! Thanks for the reassurance about the water; I just wanted to make sure you guys didn't know some secret! And, thank for your support with the the water retention. I'm definitly convinced that's what it is--I'll start with weigh-in and then back up to Friday. My friend, SCALE, showed a 3lb gain over last week yesterday morning! Well, this morning it only shows a 0.8lb gain! Needless to say, I am going to use this morning as my official weght for this week. I'm still hoping some more of it is water weight, but I will wait and see. If I have a good week again (and I will!), I will get worried if the scale doesn't budge. The good new is, I went back through my journal and the last time I was at the higher weight was 3 or 4 weeks ago and my body fat % is 3% lower now than it was then, so at least if this is a true gain it looks like it's probably muscle and I've lost fat. I'll see--I'm going to keep an eye on my weight for the next few days and not stress over anything until next Sat.

Friday:

B: plain oatmeal, 1 slice light ww toast, 4oz. light oj

S: hardboiled egg white, sf apple sauce, 1tbs pb (This is when I was really wanting some bad food so a lot of good food is much better)

L: ham on light ww, ff yogurt, animal crackers

W: upper body and abs, 1 mile run (just a little something to get the heart going--I had a little extra time)

S: banana

D: low carb. flat out (flat bread) w/ cubed chicken breast, spaghetti sauce, and cheese rolled up, light chocolate soymilk

And here's Saturday:

B: plain oatmeal, banana, 4oz. light oj

L: salad in a wheat pita with ff cheese and canadian bacon, healthy choice sausage

W: 1.25 hour walk w/ DH :)

S: baby carrots w/ ff ranch dressing, 1 hardboiled egg white

D: bowl of corn flakes w/ skim milk

S: 1/2 banana, 1/3 cup strawberries, cool whip and a little chocolate syrup (YUM!)

I'm going to have an awesome week! I'm ready for it! I just hope my body and the scale cooperate. I don't think I'm going to be able to meet my first goal, but I'm okay with that; I'm just going to do the best I can and see what happens over the next four weeks. I have a lot longer after this trip until my next trip so even if I don't make this goal, I have time to still surpass it and reach the summer trip goal--Here I go!

Afternoon Denise,
Sounds like you are staying very focused. Good for you. Sorry you have to work all weekend. It will be so worth it in the long run though. Can you imagine having to say "you want fries with that?" your entire adult life?? I thought not. Hope you have a terrific week. Take some me time even if it is only for a short bit.

Hey Denise,

I just wanted to pop in and say hi & see how you're doing. I like your attitude about this coming week, attitude can make or break us. Good luck!!

Holly

lots and lots of schoolwork over the weekend sounds like no fun! haha, and this is what i have to look forward to again, can't wait! i know, i know, the end result is worth it. just getting through all of it that's the problem :)

congrats on the lower body fat %. how do you check that? i'd be interested to find out what mine is and keep track of it. sounds like that would be a better thing to keep an eye on for me, instead of the scale.

those nice long walks with dh sound absolutely wonderful. great way to get in that exercise, spend quality time together, and enjoy that fresh air!

hope your week has started out as awesomely as you planned :p . have a great day today :sunny:

Hi Denise!:wave2:
Sounds like your weekend was pretty crazy! I have to say, I'm impressed. Here you are working full time, going to grad school, managing a household and still managing to exercise and eat sensibly. You ROCK!!::yes::
Sorry that the scale did not cooperate this weekend. But it sounds like you are still successful, based on your body fat measurement. Plus your in your smaller sizes, remember?! I wrote in Marcia's journal as well, there are other measurements of our success besides the scale. It doesn't sound like your depressed by that mean old scale, but I will reiterate anyhow. Don't let that stand in your way. You will meet your goals. You are months ahead of last year, being that you've dumped your winter weight already, instead of starting off June with it!
Just keep up the good work! You are doing great!!
Have a wonderful monday! I hope it is filled with :sunny: !

Judy, Holly, Marcia, and Sharon--:wave2: thanks for stopping by; I love hearing from you guys. Grad school is definitely worth it; I just keep telling myself I'll be done at the end of Sept.! That's not too far off. :) I'm going to appreciate all my time so much more when it's finally over. Track is close to starting and I'm going to lose even more time! Oh well, I made it through cross country; I can do this too.

Marcia, my scale reads my body fat %. The brand is Tanita and it was too expensive. ::yes::  I'm not sure how accurate it is and I've never had a caliper test done, but I figure it has to at least be good to watch trends/patterns. ????

Sharon--you are too sweet! :) Thank you so much for your way to kind words! Marcia and I are very lucky to have you looking out for us. ::yes::

K, I have to go; I'll come back and do an actual post of yesterday in a bit. :)

Denise, I'm sure that little extra on the scale is water weight and it will be gone very soon! You are in the groove and I know the scale will be cooperating at your next weigh in!

Keep up the great work! :sunny:

Thanks, Doe! I hope you're right! Wow! That was a long "bit"; I never did get back here yesterday. I ended up having a meeting after school and then went home and got on the bike until DH got home. Then we went for a walk (coudn't say in when it was 62 outside!). After that we had dinner and spent the rest of the night doing grad work on the computers. Macia--don't worry, you're truly not always this busy w/ grad school; we just have a lot of deadlines right now. It's actually better than undergrad b/c you're not in 5 classes at a time. Anyway here's a quick run down of Sunday:

B: Coco wheats, 4oz. light oj, 1 slice light ww toast
W: 1.25 hour walk w/ DH, 20 min. Winsor Pilates
L: ff baked beans, pasta w/ oregano and a little olive oil
S: baby carrots
D: basil burger on wheat bun, corn, and salad w/ ff french

DH and I had another productive day and got a lot of school work and grad worked done.

Monday:

B: Coco wheats, 4oz. light oj, 1 slice light ww toast

S: banana w/ rf PB (I went a little overboard w/ the PB and have decided not to eat that at least for a long while)

L: 1/2 ham sandwich on light ww, 4oz. ff yogurt, animal crackers, baby carrots

W: 25min. on bike, 1.25 hour walk w/ DH (about 5.5 miles)

D: 1 fish rf, baked fish filet w/ ff tartar sauce, peas, mashed potatoes

I know I said we're going to run during the week and walk on weekends, but we couldn't pass up the weather. :sunny: It was very, very windy, but still nice and warm. DH and I decided to go ahead and get out the summer clothes this coming weekend so we can start getting ready for our trip. He has been very encouraging (he usually is; he just enjoys giving me a hard time). ::yes:: I think I'm off to a good start to the week; we'll see how the rest goes.

i love it how you're taking advantage of all this beautiful weather to get in some nice walks with dh, they really sound very nice :teeth:

and yeah, stop scaring me with all that grad work :p . just kidding, just kidding. i know it won't be too bad :)

i totally hear you on the peanut butter! when i'm putting it into my measuring spoons, it's so easy to just stick my finger into the pb jar and just have a little bit more...not good! i have to be very strict with my pb, i don't want to have to give it up, but if i start to go overboard, i know i will have to. i guess i just came to a point where i didn't want to have to take it away from myself, so i started being a good girl

oh yeah, and i have a tanita scale too, i know it has a body fat measurement thing on it, i've just never used it, since the paperwork that came with it said it wouldn't be accurate for athletic bodies, and i'm being stubborn and telling myself i have an athletic body :p . only because i think i did the body fat thing the first day i got the scale, and it read way high, like, in the not healthy range. and um, i know i'm not in a not healthy range. i've also read that it only sends the current up through your legs, so if you carry your fat in your legs (like i do) it won't be accurate. haha, i'm just justifying it to myself since i didn't like the number :o . i really would be interested in having someone do an accurate body fat % on me. i should check into that.

you're definitely off to the start of a good week. 2 days down! well, actually, 3, since i believe your week starts on saturday like mine does :). here's to smooth sailing :boat: up through summer clothes try on this weekend! :hyper:

Denise, those long walks outside with DH sound sooooo good!! Once the sun starts staying up later in the evenings, DH and I will also be walking outside for 45 min. to an hour. It's a great time to reconnect and share our busy lives! With the two of you keeping so busy, I think couple-time is important!

I see you did the 20 minute Winsor Pilates. I just started doing mine again too! It's amazing how much I feel it in my lower abs - right where I really need it!

hey denise, just wanted to check in on you. hope your day is going well today :sunny:

Hi! just checkin up on ya. You sound busy like me. I get to doing something then I don't have time for everything else. But yes it will pay off and you are soo close to finishing Congrats!

Don't fret about the SCALE, my rule is that if it is consistant two weeks in a row then I fret, but not till then.

Drinking too much water, I never thought of that, but that could be cuz I never really had it a lot before now. I am getting better.

Hope this week goes well for you, and your weigh in is better this week. Keep up the good work, you're doing so great.

Sunshine for you :sunny:

Ariel's Dad, Doreen, and Marcia! :wave2: Thanks for stopping in for a visit!

Doe--I really like Winsor Pilates; I just wish I had more time to do it. I think I would really see some results if I got to do it more. For now, I'm just going to do it when I can and hopefully I'll get to do it a lot more this summer.

Marcia--Thanks, I feel great this week; I just hope it shows on the scale. I'm really tired, but I'm getting a ton done. I agree w/ you about the scale, but I figure if the number is wrong, it still has to be good enough to watch trends. It also tells me how many calories to eat each day to maintain; I don't really use that, but sometimes I make a conscience effort to stay below it.

Spring is definitely in the air!!!! :sunny: I'm so excited about getting my clothes out this weekend, but I'll be more excited if the scale moves in the right direction right before I get them out! :)

So here's how yesterday played out--Tuesday:

B: plain oatmeal, 1 slice light ww toast, 4oz. light oj

S: 1/2 ham sandwich (leftover from lunch the day before)

L: salad w/ ff french and 1 hardboiled egg white, 4oz ff yogurt, 8 baby carrots

S: apple

D: lasagna hh w/ 96% ff hamburger and a few baby carrots w/ ff ranch, light chocolate soymilk

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day! :sunny:

Hey, ::MickeyMo princess: , I just wanted to add a hello to you! :wave2: I think you were typing while I was! Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day. :sunny:

Hi Denise!:wave2: Sorry I haven't been by for a few days. Work has been pretty hectic.
Looks like you are having another great week!:smooth: That is wonderful! If the scale doesn't tell you good things this weekend, I think the fit of your clothes definitely will. Keep up the good work, you are doing so great!!::yes::
Hope your day was filled with :sunny: !

Hi Denise,
Haven't been by for a few days so I wanted to stop in and see how you are doing. Looks great to me. I hope the rest of your week is terrific.

hey denise, busy seems to be the buzz word of the day today! this is the first chance i've gotten to be on the computer. for once, i was busy at work  . thank you for taking the time to stop by my journal even though you're so busy! i hope you're doing well through all this craziness. i'll catch up with you hopefully some time tomorrow :)

Denise,

I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your comment on my journal!:D It really meant a lot to me to have strangers encourage me the way you have!

Sincerely,

Dax

Denise, it's FRIDAY!!! :Pinkbounc

I hope you and DH find some time this weekend to just relax! I know you're awfully busy with your "work" work and grad work, but maybe in between you'll find some time for R&R (rest & relaxation). Don't want your batteries to get too run-down! You've gotta be in top shape for track season's start so you can keep up with your kids! ::yes::
