In the world of timesharing there are often lists of timeshares by "demand." Demand referes to popularity. If you had to rank the list for DVC - what would the top five look like? I am assuming that BLT would be number 1? Any thoughts? I am assuming that OKW, HHI, VB might be closer to the bottom of the list....

I think if you ask which 4 resorts have the most loyal avid followers they would be (in no particular order) VWL, BCV, BWV & OKW.....number 5 would be the toughest call.....maybe AKV or BLT? I don't think you can really rank by "demand" because the resort sizes vary so much. Sure, there seem to be a lot of vacancies at OKW but I still think it's a very popular resort....there are just a lot of villas

Each person has their own thoughts on this I would think. I for one put OKW at the top of my list and BLT and BWV at the bottom. I am sure there are others who do just the opposite for those on WDW property. Given the choices I also think that different resorts vary in popularity depending on the time of year. WL might be more popular during the Christmas season while BCV and BWV are the most sought after during F&W.

My top five at OKW, BCV, SSR, AKV, WL

Popularity or difficulty in booking? BLT is new enough that its hard to tell long term, but its certainly popular now. OKW and SSR have their fans, but they also have lots of rooms - in the timeshare trade world, you are more likely to see these available, when you see the other resorts, they usually disappear fast from the trade lists. VWL has a very small number of rooms, but doesn't seem to have as many fans - with the exception of certain times of year. The Epcot resorts are popular year round, VERY popular from October to mid- January, and BCV has a small number of rooms. BWV has a larger number of rooms, but its two most popular categories book quickly. AKL is both large and popular, it may be the best "balanced" resort in terms of supply and demand, IMHO.

You know - I used to think that the most popular were the most difficult to get into because they were popular. But I do now understand that it's much more complicated than that. There are many. many variables as you suggested. Thanks!

Very hard to tell, as everyone has their favorite for different reasons. Are you trying to book something at 7 months and concerned you won't get it?

And if everyone understood that, the "resort wars" over "SSR must be a lousy resort because its always available" would end - or at least be more reasonable. SSR may not be the prom queen that BCV is, but its also a LOT larger.

I have my own 'personal' demand list:
1. OKW
2. AKV-CL
3. VWL
4. BCV
5. SSR
6. BWV
7. BLT

Having purchased early, we are also very fond of OKW. It is "home" for us. I have seen so much traffic on BLT that I just assumed it was the most popular. That obviously must not be the case. It just is one of the newest, I think.

As many have said, the DVC portfolio now has so many options the "best" or "most popular" seems to be in the eyes of the beholder. The largest resorts seem to most often have availability - probably just because they are so large - not because they are better as stated in an earlier post.

The resort most in demand is the newest one. Always the newest one. Especially by people who don't know the details about the resorts - like the size of the OKW villas.

Everyone wants the newest, the most recently renovated, the freshest. Even if the renovation looks like garbage.

While we bought at BLT, we had stayed at OKW before. I can attest that the difference between the two is pretty diverse. This means that preferred would be subjective. The size of the OKW room we stayed in was huge compared to the comparable at BLT. BLT is walking distance to MK. I could go on and on.

How about we revise the original OP's question...

What properties are the most difficult to book at any given time. Let me put it another way...if I wanted to book a property for new years eve and I could book them all at 11 months out, which would be the first one to fill-up, the second one, and so forth? Or maybe another way...which one has the greatest demand and least supply?

I am guessing from what I have read the top two would be the following (although I could be wrong, which is why I am asking):

1. BCV (mainly because it is popular, location, and the smallest)
2. BLT (mainly because it is popular, location, and the newest)
3. ?, 4. ?, .....

Tough one. Since I travel to WDW in December, I would have to say VWL as #1, But BCV for swimming and closeness to Epcot, BWV with its Boardwalk view, the serenity of OKW and a savanagh room at AKL, I count them ALL at #1, all for different reasons, but since I own points at only VWL and BCV they have to be my favorites.

Also the opinions of the people on this forum are a very small percentage of the total membership, so therefore it is just personal opinions.

No facts to it.

If you are wanting to try the other resorts at 7 months since OKW is home for you, have you tried the wait list, if you are not able to get what you want at 7 months?

If you are talking popularity, as in the number of people that stay there, then OKW and SSR will be at the top! They are the largest and they serve the most people.

If you are talking popularity as in hardest to book at 7 months (and even 11 months) then VGC has to be at the top of this list.

But that's just my guess! ;)

Tug AND Redweek are both great resources to judge where DVC resorts rank. Now, BLT and VGC are both too new to be relevant for this rankings.

Redweek - top 25
#1 BCV
#5 BWV
#8 AKV
#15 VWL
#18 OKW

TUG - top 30
#3 VWL
#10 OKW
#23 BWV
#30 HHI

this is my list

BLT
BCV
AKV
BWV
VWL
OKW
SSR

BLT is mainly popular because it is new and you can walk to the MK

BCV is popular because you can easily walk to Epcot.

AKV is new and people who love animals will really like this place.

BWV because you can walk to Epcot and Studios

VWL - boating or bus to the MK.

OKW and SSR are only near DD. Now if you wanted easy access to DD and not the parks - they would be first on the list. but most people want easy access to the parks.

for new years would say - BLT then BCV, BWV, SSR

NY at the MK is pretty wonderfully.

Epcot also has special fireworks

even DD has fireworks that night so included SSR.

now with both BLT and bwv - you can see the others fireworks in certain rooms.

Good list except you have one error.:goodvibes

SSR and OKW are:
closer to Epcot, Studios and MK than AKV, Kidani
closer to Epcot, Studios and AK than VWL
closer to Epcot, Studios and AK than BLT
closer to MK than AKV, BWV and BCV.

BLT has the monrail to Epcot.

agree with most - but facts are facts. you can't walk, boat or monrail to any of the parks from OKW and SSR.

after the new is off AKV - it will probably join OKW and SSR. It is a wonderfully resort - but most people are at WDW to do the parks.

since the MK is the most popular - which is one reason why MK resorts can charge most than Epcot resorts. So sorry but BLT wins.

BCV is a great location a 5 minute walk to the Epcot. but you need to bus to MK for most people. (and you might be surprised how many guests do not even get the park hoppers - so going thru Epcot to get to the MK - is not possible for them)

now WDW has comfortable buses - even more comfortable than some professional buses (more leg room). but bus travel is not as fun as boat or monrail.
