Deluxe then Value? Will it be culture shock?

In 2002 we stayed at All Star Music. This was our first experience staying on Disney property and we said we'd always stay on Disney property for future trips.

In 2007 we stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney "wowed" us yet again. The resort was gorgeous.

This year it's going to be me and my sister (no hubby or kids!) on a girls only trip. We are budgeting like crazy since this is a spur of the moment idea. That means we're staying at a value -- All Star Movies.

So, my question is : who has stayed at a Deluxe and then downgraded to a Value? Did you notice a big difference? Did you pine for the Deluxe resort again?

I was just looking at pictures of ASMo and boy does it look cheesy compared to AKL. However I don't think I'll mind tooooo much considering we are planning on being out of the room all day, except for sleep!

I have personally done it.I missed staying at the CR, but the Asmo was ok.I don't spend all that much time in my room anyway.The only thing I REALLY missed was a quick trip "home" at the end of a long day...the busses drive me nuts!

Well, I have to say that what "amazed" me was how little I actually gave up.

Now that said you have the "biggest" let down IMHO. My FAVORITE resort at Disney is AKL. Not becuase of the "deluxe" but because I can walk out of my room and see Giraffes, Zebras, etc...

However, when you compare what you get for your dollar... Sadly you aren't making a huge change between Deluxe and Value. Service is the same at both. (Heck, EVERY time I have stayed at All Stars my service BEAT the "non existent" Grand Floridian service on my ONE AND ONLY stay LOL!)

I think you will be happy. (And I have realized that for Disney prices I am out of the "deluxe resorts" until Disney learns what that's really suppose to mean!)
