Hi

I have reserved a deluxe room at HRH, but could have got a deluxe at POB for $20 less. There will be five of us, so we will need to pay extra for the roll-away if we choose POB, as the deluxe rooms only sleep 4 (at HRH they sleep 5 already).

What are the deluxe rooms like at HRH/POBay?
Which option do you think is best?

Thanks!

We're staying in a Deluxe room at HRH during spring break. Hope someone can give details of the room!

I have stayed in both and my preference is Portofino. Not because the room is all that much better (although the bathroom is!) so are the beds.
I like the property better at Portofino and if $ were the same would pick Portofino over a deluxe at Hard Rock. I am sure many others would pick Hard Rock. Go with your choice of theme neither is a bad choice!

Thanks for posting those pictures!! We stayed at Portofino a few years ago and I had forgotten how nice the rooms are!
I would have liked to stay at Portofino over HRH, but we got a better price at HRH. No big deal though, they're both nice!

Thanks for posting! I must say that the Portofino Bay deluxe room bathroom looks truly divine!

How long is the walk from POB to Universal/IOA?

ALSO, it mentions that there are 2 sinks in the deluxe rooms at the HRH - are the bathrooms larger/nicer than the standard room bathrooms?

Thank you!

:flower1:

JessicaR (or anyone else who knows) - is there a tub in that bathroom, too? I loved seeing those pictures - staying PBH in Oct and was given a gold club (yeah, finally!) upgrade to a deluxe room ! :smooth:

Pictures from www.yourmagicaljourneys.com

The bathroom in a deluxe at Portofino is big and luxurious.

The bathroom in a deluxe at HRH is bigger than a standard room's bathroom. Ours did have 2 sinks but wasnt very memorable. I have pics let me look!

Thanks, JessicaR !! - that bathroom looks even better with the tub ! One more question, looking through the window above the tub into the room looks rather small (the room, that is) - if the 2 beds are as close together as they look, where is the sofa bed located? Does the deluxe room extend wider than a regular room - maybe that's what I can't see.

bjakmom,

I am almost certain but will check to be sure that the 2 queen bed deluxe at Portofino does not have a sofa. It does have a table and 2 chairs. It also has a single comfortable chair. The King may have the sofa. The room itself is comfortably spaced. We are a family of 4 and it was great!

Just took a look at Universals website and the deluxe King does show the sofa.

Thanks for clearing that up for me JessicaR - I was assuming that the PBH deluxe would be the same as HRH deluxe and I thought I saw pictures of those rooms with 2Qs and a sofa - I know they say they sleep 5. That's important for me to know, was planning on my DS(16) sleeping on the sofa bed instead of sharing a bed with me - sis and nephew(7) can easily share a Q - he's still little. I may need to hold another room - I never know who's going to end up coming now that the kids are grown! (but I still like to plan ahead) :smooth:

We stayed in a deluxe room at HRH last summer...and thought the room was extremely spacious! They are odd shaped...as they are located where the bends of the hotel are! They sleep 5 comfortably! There is also a sitting/dressing area separate from where the beds are that has a refrig., closets and a make-up table! Also, the sink was separate from the toilet/bath. I took a lot of digital pics, but do not know how to get them onto the computer(other than for viewing) Sorry!

Hi AspiringCindy :wave2:

I remember talking with you last year - because we too stayed at The Polynesian and Hard Rock Hotel :) What did you think of them both? I thought they were two amazing resorts - so much so we are doing the exact same combination this August!

Thanks for the information about your deluxe room. What was your view like? Do you know if there is an online floor plan anywhere so I can see where the Deluxe rooms are located?

Thank you!
