Deluxe resorts or not?

I am looking to stay in September. We usually stay at either the All Stars or Pop. I've been thinking about doing a deluxe resort this time. Any suggestions? We stayed at the Swan once and liked the convience of walking to Epcot but I'd like to try something new.

Anyone have any idea on the AP rates for the Deluxe resorts?

you can rent points from a DVC member and stay in BCV or BWV for around $120 (off season - which is Sept). NO HOUSEKEEPING unless you want to paid extra.

the EPcot resorts are D/S, BW and BC/YC/BCV

if you mean another theme park - then the Cont is the only resort you can walk to the MK from.

We stayed at the Swan on our first trip (Sept 2003) and loved it as well, but after our Chef Mickey's experience we decided that we would like to try the CR on our next trip. We did the CR on our May trip and fell in love with the MK view from the Tower as well as the walking option to MK. Our next trip is September 2005 but unfortunately there is nothing available at CR (guessing due to the rumored refurb) so we are going to try the Poly this time. We did a quick tour when we ate at Kona on our last trip and thought it was beautiful so we are excited about staying there.

If you have younger children and MK is your preferred park, you can't beat the monorail resorts. I hear WL is a more affordable, very kid friendly deluxe. Also, like the Swan's boat option to EPCOT and MGM, WL has a boat option to MK. If you haven't stayed on the monorail though I would try it. We love the Epcot resorts and perhaps when the kids are older we will stay there again, but for now we just love the convenience and close proximity to MK of the monorail resorts.

I also read on tikiman's site that the monorail trip from the Poly to Epcot is about the same as (or perhaps even faster than) the boat/walking option from an Epcot resort to Epcot.

I saw that the Poly GV room in September is typically $233/night with an AP discount. You can get the same room on AAA for about $277/night (what we did) - we prefer having it booked without having to stress about codes being offered or being able to get it once offered.

Here's another suggestion - why not split your stay? I suggest that to everyone now. We split our 8 nights by staying at a Magic Kingdom resort the first three nights then staying at an EPCOT (our favorite park) resort the last five nights. On the day that we switch resorts we pack up, have Disney move our bags, go to a park for the day and then go to our new resort to check in.

Switching resorts is NOT for everyone, but for us it's like having two separate vacations. Our kids are now 6 & 10 and we have been doing this every year for the last couple of years. My favorite combination is the Polynesian and then the Boardwalk.
