Deluxe resorts/express pass

A couple questions about the Express Pass included with deluxe resorts.

1). Is it valid for both check in and check out days? So if I booked a room Friday and Saturday night, would I get Express Pass Friday, Saturday, and Sunday?

2) Do you have to book directly with Universal to get the benefit? If I book through Expedia or something do I still get it?

2) No, your room key is your pass. Doesn't matter how you booked it.
