My wife and I are going on a Disney Cruise for our anniversary in September. We will stay at a Disney resort the night before the cruise on 9/15. We've stayed at all of the Deluxe resorts over the years, but always with our kids. I'm looking for recommendations on which Deluxe (only) to stay at and why. Go....

Riviera. Brand new. Opening in the fall. A DVC resort that will begin booking cash guests at the end of this month. If they open in time for your date, that's where I would recommend staying. It is rumored to be a high end resort and will have Skyliner access to both HS and Epcot.

If not Riviera, consider the new Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs. Opening July, accepting reservations now. While CSR is considered to be a Moderate Resort, the GDT is expected to be much nicer than any of the other Moderates.

I would stay at the Beach Club and have dinner at Yachtman's steakhouse and either walk around the boardwalk or enjoy the pool and hot tubs (so pretty at night). My other favorite hotel to stay at as a couple would be Animal Kingdom Lodge and dinner at Jiko. You could enjoy the animals there the evening before your cruise.

Exactly my thoughts!

If cost isn't an issue, for an anniversary, I would consider theme park view CL in GF's main building with dinner at Narcoosee's, Cali Grill (at CR) or spring for V&A. I think, as far as deluxes, it's the most romantic and GF RPC is very special. If that is out of your price range, I would consider AK CL (the savannah view is very nice) or CL at BWI or YC. BWI has a very romantic feel, IMHO and YC is a bit quieter and more romantic than its sister resort, BC.

I would say Animal Kingdom. If you don’t need to get to the parks, it’s great and removed from the hustle and bustle. We stayed there before our Disney Cruise, I wish I had explored the resort more.

I'd say the boardwalk... its already more of an adult atmosphere. You can grab dinner and drinks at one of the restaurants nearby, stroll the boardwalk then enjoy an evening swim if you like. Plus you can often seeing the fireworks from there without going into the park.
