Deluxe or Moderate?

POR is my least favorite of all the Disney resorts. Plus, you'll be on the AB side, which was even more of a 'least favorite' for us.

For us, I'd prefer to go one day shorter to make up some -or all of that $800. The pool at BC is WAAAYY better than the pool at POR.

DDP is great if it fits how you eat. for us, it is actually too much food. At first it seems two meals and a snack will not be enough, but often the QS meals are just too big for us, especailly when so many of the TS dinners are buffets - and even at the menu places desserts are included. The only thing we sometimes run short on are the snacks. And we usually supplement the 'drinks' with bottled water. That said, having everythign prepaid, especially ona first trip, is really helpful. It's also fun to dine out and be able to order what you feel like eating vs. picking what to eat based on price. (though you DO have to pay the tip always!)

Thinking even more about having five in the room, I think you'll appreciate the larger room you get at BC. As relates to my eariler post, CBR has the biggest rooms of all the mods.
POR = 314 square feet
CBR = 340 sq feet
BC = 380 sq feet

The layout of the rooms at BC is also really nice, and utilizes the extra space well. Another difference is that many of the rooms at BC have balconies (though not all - if you stay there, be sure to request a room with one). A balcony is a considerable plus, esp with a group of five.

I would go for the BC as well, if BIL was not coming with us this year we would be staying at eitehr BC or BW on this trip. We like the idea of walking over to Epcot as well as the other activities there are to do at those locations.

Have you checked into renting DVC points yet? Sometimes you can get those for a lot less, from what I understand you then can add on the dining plan without buying the tickets so you can get those from UT or something to save a little more.

I didn't remember the ages but have you looked at the kids stay free package yet? We are brining my niece so we did this one and it saved us the cost of the kids tickets. I just paid for QSDP and the parkhopper for them, which was a little more than $100 per kid for the week.
