Deluxe Family Vs Deluxe with Pack and Play?

Hi! I am planning a cruise for January 2024 and am wondering if we should book a deluxe family verandah or a deluxe verandah room? We will have a 3 year old and a 1 year old at the time. I would like our 3 year old to not have to sleep in the drop-down bed (so either the sofa or murphy bed) and the 1 year old will probably sleep in a pack and play. My question is will there be enough room in a deluxe room with the sofa bed converted for a pack and play or should we book the deluxe family room for the extra space? Thanks!

There should be room for a pack and play in either room. The sofa flips over to become a bed, so it doesn't stretch out into the room. That said, it would be tight quarters having the pack and play next to the sofa bed.

If you want the option of a murphy bed that folds down from the wall, freeing up all of the space next to the sofa, you'll need a deluxe family veranda room. On the Magic and Wonder, all of the deluxe family rooms should have the wall bed, but on the Dream and Fantasy, some do and some don't, so you'd need to make sure the room you book does (I'm not sure about the Wish).

That extra space in a Deluxe Family room is so worth it if it can fit into your budget. But if not, you will all fit in the Deluxe. The back of the sofa flips down on top of the cushions, so when it's in "bed mode" it doesn't take up any more space that the sofa itself does.

Thanks! We are going to be on the Fantasy, so I'm guessing there is a chance that the Deluxe Family with Verandah would not have a murphy bed. My 3 year old could sleep on the sofa bed, I'm not sure if we would need the murphy bed if there was still the extra space where we could put the pack and play? Is there still that extra space with a deluxe family room even without the murphy bad?

Thanks, I'm thinking we will book the Deluxe Family for the extra space. On a 7 night cruise I think it will be worth it so we are not too squished for the whole week!

Yes, the extra space between the sofa and the veranda door is in all Deluxe Family Veranda staterooms. There's an additional chair in many, if not all, of those rooms that isn't in the Deluxe Veranda rooms. So if you don't need/have the murphy bed, you could move the Pack and Play closer to the verenda to make more room by the sofa. If you're worried about a kid opening the veranda, be aware that the door has a lock above kid-level and is very heavy, so it's highly unlikely a 3-year-old could open it without you noticing.

Since extra space for the pack and play is what you want, make sure you avoid the Category 4E rooms, which are labeled "Family" rooms, but do not have the extra space in the room (they are considered "family" size because they have larger balconies, but you don't want to put a pack n play outdoors!). Just book categories 4A, 4B, 4C or 4D.
