Well, after much debate before the trip I upgraded to Deluxe about 4 weeks before we left. I really didn’t change much about our plans except that I added Hoop-Dee-Doo. I had plan on just paying for extra TS meals and being on DDP. I am really, really glad I made the change. I did not feel like it was too much food at all. We use all our snack credits and all but one lonely meal credit. A couple of things that made it work for us. 1. We were there 6 nights, but 7 full days. Therefore we had more time to spread out our credits. 2. We have a 2 ½ year old, who was sharing food so he helped eat the food.

We end up saving about $350-$400 based on paying OOP and I am not sure we would have NOT eaten anything we did order. I think we would have eaten similarly.

Here is how we divided our 54 meal credits. Then I will review all this restaurants.

Day One: Used 6 credits

I really intended on taking Food Pictures, but seriously… keeping up with a 2 and 3 year old and character Pictures… it just didn’t happen.

We arrived at Disney right about Noon. It was a long morning of travelling so we grabbed some meals at Everything Pop. I was quite happy with the Pop Food Court. (Except the Pizza… which we thought was YUCK! Throughout Disney) I thought the service was great and the food was edible. (Honestly, I wasn’t that impressed with any food in Disney!) We never really went at peak times so we didn’t deal with crowds much. In fact we mostly used it has a bigger snack because we generally only ate two meals a day.

Our first night there we had Dinner at Chef Mickey’s. I thought the food was only so-so and definitely not worth the price. Service was good. Character interaction was great! That alone made this a good place to start the trip because the boys got to the see the Main 5 characters right at the beginning.

Day Two: Used 8 credits

Crystal Palace Breakfast: Food was edible. Once again, I was NOT impressed with the buffet food.. Breakfast was definitely better than dinner though! It was typical breakfast food, so not too hard to mess up. But I didn’t think the food was anything special. The character interaction was good. I felt we waited around a long time to see the last character Eeyore. But the boys loved them visiting the table. I also felt like, and this is true for all our character meals, that my kids didn’t eat much because they were too busy watching the characters even if they weren’t at all table.

We took a mid-day break and went back to the room. We split 2 meals from Pop Food Court. We were a little hungry.

We have dinner back at MK at Tony’s. I thought this was a really good place. The service was good. The food was yummy. I would say about Olive Garden quality. They had this soup that night called Chicken Milan and it was amazing!

Day Three: Used 8 Credits

Breakfast at Tusker House in AK. This was our Favorite character breakfast! The buffet was the best we had. The characters (Mickey, Donald, Minnie, Goofy, Daisy) were adorable in their safari gear. They were great with the kids and they got plenty of time with them. I also like the set up of this restaurant. The buffet was kinda in a separate room which made it seem less crowded when filling your plate.

We again took a mid-day break and split 2 meals at Pop.

For Dinner we headed over to Whispering Canyon Café for dinner. This was by far I think the best meal we had. The food was wonderful! We decided not to do the skillet. I got Western Chicken Pasta and my husband got Ribs. We all had bottomless milkshakes for our drinks and a separate dessert. I swear we had the best waiter in the house, Sergio. He was so playful and made the entire meal enjoyable. I laughed so much it hurt! I absolutely recommend this one. Next trip this is the first ADR I am making!
