I always order salad with no dressing so I never knew. I'm not vegetarian though. I just don't eat meat. I eat fish and seafood, but obviously with CS, that made me pretty much a vegetarian, lol

I think as you have probably gathered from responses that DxDdp is perhaps more suited to a more seasoned visitor.

We are off on our 5th trp in August - our first trip was dining plan free - I had read on here about planning and ADRs scared me - how did we know what we wanted to do?

many years later As a regular visitor to WDW it is all too easy to become use to the 'way things work'. In all honesty With your planning concerns the DDP may be a step to far let alone setting your sights on the dXDdp !

2tiggies has praised the QSDP and quite rightly so - I believe it would easily give the food your require with the flexibility you desire (owoo poetry there!). To us anything more than this on a first trip would have been over whelming.

I often find myself so often referencing our friends who we took with us last year - we constantly bit our lips at their decisions, wasted time, inefficiency .... But the reality is they had a great time who were we to say they were doing Florida 'wrong' Regardless of you choice you will have a fab time - just like life you learn from experience -but no need to sweat it on you first trip if it causes you worry and stress it's not worth worrying about - go with what suits you best ( may not be the cheapest or most efficient either - but if it is stress free it is worth it!)

I am sure you will have a great time whatever you choose - but if planning meals and where you need to be is too much then without question the DxDDP is the polar opposite of what you should be booking!

it will be my 3rd trip , but first using any sort of dining plan and taking my children !!

i will take the dining plan if we get it free with the hotel we choose, think the best way round the planning would be to have a big brekkie on morning /charachter brekkies that will use up the table service redits without blocking our day up

my original hotel choice was port orleans riverside that will only have qsdp, but for some bizzare reason TCD are quoting it at more than okw, seem to get a good price on that hotel on disney website but no flight package yet available on there

my 2 cents

QSDP : not working for us with a 4 year old. Food is always the same off the kids selection.
DDP : I'd rather carry a huge boulder in my backpack all day than being tied to a fixed seat down meal everyday. I know it gets you to cool off a little and rest. But I think one of the thing you can't plan in advance is the moment your party is gonna crash.
It happened to us quite a few times when we had ADRs in parks. We were all full of energy, asking for more, but had to stop for a sit down meal. As a result, we ended up having no more energy after the meal, as we had cooled off too much) and ended up going back to the resort, and eventually lost half the day doing nothing.
DxDP : Even worse than above.

We do sit down meals, but only as character breakfast as a way to start an "offsite" day, such as picking citrus at a citrus farm, setting off to KSC, or idling around the pool at the resort, or for dinner at the end of a long day at the parks.
But to do that each and every day just does not suit our way of doing Disney

In the end, it's different from guest to guest.
What's good for you may not be good for the next person.
All we can do is give advice based on our own experience and likings.

Now as for the topic's title : is DxDP worth it ?
well ... how comfortable are you with the idea of spending 4 or 5 hours a day on restaurants ?
It might be worth it if restaurants are your kind of holiday (some like that)

although i like the idea of having 3 meals and been able to sit and relax, we do enjoy eating out and going to restraunts but for simply the advance planning required then its not worth it for me !! if i could have the delux dining and just stroll in somewhere at leisure after maybe thinking it smells or looks nice or im hungry at that particular time then it would be amazing !!
