Delta's refund policy

Given the mess that Southwest is currently in, I'm considering booking Delta flights as backups to our already booked Southwest flights in a few weeks. I've never flown Delta and their refund policy isn't as clear to me as it probably ought to be. Can any frequent Delta flyers confirm this for me? It looks like, as long as I book a "refundable" ticket, I can cancel the flight before departure, then fill out a form to request a refund, and then my credit card will be refunded within 7 business days. Is that right? I don't want an eCredit and we wouldn't normally plan to fly Delta (unless Southwest keeps up with this shenanigans...) Thanks!

That is correct. Just be sure to book a refundable ticket.

Well, great info but I feel for the Southwest Airlines. Both Delta and Southwest Airlines stay apart from each other in services not only but also policy. Southwest Airlines have a very generous and flexible 24-hours policy aganist the Delta Airlines return policy which keep them always at top.
