Delta's Online Check-In

we have never used online check-in on previous flights because of checking baggage. Would there be any advantage to checking in online even when there are bags to check and there is no curbside checkin at the departing airport?

Since I always have checked baggage I've not used the online check-in. However, Delta offers check-in kiosks at the airport that are quick and fantastic. You will need either your Delta FF ID card or the credit card you used to purchase tickets. Just slide the card through like an ATM and your itinerary will pop up. You indicate the number of bags you are checking in, answer a couple other questions and the machine spits out your boarding pass. An attendant will tag the bags and off you go.

The first time I used the kiosk a couple years ago (at Logan) I thought something was wrong when I was all checked in and on my way in a flash while others were waiting in the usual long check-in line.

tks Margie, we have always used the kiosks on previous trips but this time around we are flying out of a different airport, which is smaller and offers no curbside check-in or kiosks. that was my reason for wondering if there would be any advantage to checking in online.

If you are collecting frequent flyer miles Delta sometimes gives you a "bonus" for on line. If you check on line and have luggage, you scan your printed boarding pass at the Kiosk to do your luggage.

However, if you have luggage and the airport doesn't have kiosks there is no way to avoid the line!
