We will be flying w/Delta for the 1st time this summer. We are used to flying SWA & always pleased. We would prefer to fly SWA, but they don't fly where we are vacationing this summer.
So, is Delta known for delayed flights often, reassigning seats, or changing flight times???
Just want to know what to expect & be prepared if I have to watch our flight times & such.

You definitely need to watch your flight times & seat assignments, especially this far in advance. They make alot of changes but will work with you if you are not happy with new times. I've used that to my advantage on my last 2 trips to WDW. They changed the times and I got better flights for no additional charge.

All our trips to WDW have been on Delta.
Only ran into one problem - which was a large rain/wind storm which was causing several flight delays and cancellations at Laguardia - it involved ALL airlines so it was beyond Delta's control - we got there OK, but our connecting flight was cancelled as the storm had gotten worse and flights coming from the south couldn't land and reload.
By the time they announced the cancellation of the flight and I used one of the phones they have to call, they had us already rebooked - alternative route and we got there later but at least we got there - there were several people who arrived at our resort at WDW the next day who were supposed to fly out of NY on several different airlines but were a day late getting there...
I was very happy with Delta. I would use them again this trip but due to the time of year, we are flying on Air Canada from our local airport as we don't want to have to risk driving to the US in a snow storm or anything.

We have always flown Delta and have never had any trouble with them. We have always been on-time. The only time we have had seats changed was when Delta changed the type of plane for the flight and all seats get thrown back into the computer and reassigned. I found it was just easier to check our itinerary once a week to make sure the seats were okay and that the time hadn't changed. We would be flying them again in Aug. expect Delta did away with all non-stops out of Hartford. We are currently booked on Southwest for the trip to MCO and are waiting for our return dates to open. I don't like not having assigned seats so this should be interesting.

We fly Delta a lot. This past trip, which was in September, we bought our tickets in April, our flight was changed 6 times! This had never happened before. The changes were not to our advantage. The changes had us arriving late on our first day, and leaving extremely early on our last day. Each time they worked with us to find better times at no charge to us.

I've flown both nationally and internationally with Delta. While they aren't my favorite (Jetblue!) I haven't had too many problems. They did cancel my flight once from MCO to JFK due to the plane and rescheduled me for the next day. I called and they issued me a credit for $125.00 for inconvenience. If I would have had hotel expenses they would have reimbursed (not sure how much.) So make sure if there are changes to call them and they have always been really accomodating. It is the weather that isn't cooporative at times.

I have flown Delta many times. The last few years I have had them move and cancel my flights several times. It's annoying but it doesn't stop me from flying them, they are often only no stops out of Minneapolis.

I have miles with Delta, so that's what I fly. Always on time, or even earlier, and this last flight I made 10 months out the departure time was changed frequently, but only within a half hours difference. The return flight had no changes. I was just suprised how full the flight was when I booked in Dec 2010 for Oct 2011.

We prefer to fly Delta to MCO. They have a 7:00 AM non-stop out of BOS that gets us to WDW by 10:30. We love it.
I found last year that the times changed several times over the 10 months I had the tickets. Usually only by a few minutes and it was not a problem. That said, I check my reservation on-line at least weekly to ensure that seat assignments haven't changed. If they have, I call and have it fixed.
Air Tran and SWA do not have non-stops out of BOS, and Jet Blue was more expensive.,

We flew Delta to WDW for the first time a couple of weeks ago (we usually fly Southwest or American). All of our flights were on time, and the gate staff was very helpful and courteous and efficient as was the on board flight staff. HOWEVER, they did switch our flight times more than once. Our return flight wound up changed to be getting in somewhere between an hour and an hour and a half later than when I booked it. Not only that but they changed our seats around from what I had booked as seat selections both coming to WDW and going home- which is how I know that the gate staff was helpful and courteous. Going, they switched our seats after our boarding passes were printed. DH went up to gate check the stroller and got "HMMM, something isn't right here", and then he called the rest of us over and we found out that they had moved our seats after we got our boarding passes without without letting us know - otherwise, we would not have known until we attempted to get on the plane with our boarding passes and they sent us back to the counter instead of letting us on. On the way back, they split us up...which I wouldn't have cared about except DD is 5. They were very good about getting us put back together; however we went from near the front of the plane to the next to the last row. The most important thing to remember is that if you plan to check in your luggage at the WDW resort on your way home, that you can NOT check in to your flight the day before on your own or through the concierge, or Delta will lock you out of checking your bags at the resort. The bag check in counter at the resort must be the one to check you in and print your boarding passes the day of your flight. They don't tell you that either. As we have always flown American and Southwest and have always checked into the flight the previous day and resort checked our bags the next day, we made that mistake and it was completely annoying that for the first time in a few years we had to carry our own bags back to the airport. According to all the staff, it is a Delta quirk and it happens all the time. DH swears he isn't flying Delta to WDW again because of that one.

I agree with the previous posts--watch your flight times and seating assignments. We fly Delta a lot, but a trip never goes as originally booked. This last time, they reassigned our seats and put my husband in a random row and some other man seated next to me. The gate agent was of no help, so we had to work out our own seat trade after we'd boarded. What we really thought was funny, was they said I was booked into a preferred seat. Their version of a preferred seat is a window seat without a window. The seats were spaced so my view was of the wall. Ha!

We fly delta out of Detroit almost everytime. Plan on flying with them again in 2012. So far they have been fairly on time, always willing to help with changes.

We fly Delta a couple times a year and have no issues. They do change the times a bit, but for us it was only by a few minutes.
