Delta

Has anyone here flown with Delta? How do they compare to other airlines? Would you recommend them? :)

i've flown with them a lot, both inside the US and transatlantic...

inside the US they're about the same as other US based airlines..

transatlantic they're very good....they have nice planes, usually with seatback entertainment (though i don't know if all the planes have that) and the cabin crew usually are pretty good as well - friendly and efficient...

i wouldn't hesitate to fly with them across the atlantic...
and if you're flying business class, they're really good, with the pod style seats...

Yes. :)

They are the best transatlantic we've ever done! Really great seats, space IFE, staff, food.

Really really good. :)

We'd never hesitate booking them.

As previous posters have said Delta are brillant flying Transalantic. We always check out their prices first and often pay little bit more for them as service, seats, space always seems bit better than others.:thumbsup2Have been on Delta 7 times flying to US and never had a problem.Any time i used them they had seatback TV's with large selection of movies and games.Four times we even got Haggen Daz ice cream for dessert.:cool1::cool1:I think that says it all....

With Delta its all down to route and which plane they have on on your day, they have such a big fleet.
Been with them a lot in past few years the London route via Detroit(was NWA now Delta) is among the best transatlantic flights we have had, but coming back via Atlanta we have had some poor planes, no seatback TV etc. Easter we flew Atlanta to Paris, that had seatback TV.s
From Manchester again older planes, thankfully we were in Biz class last August and will be again this August, hopefully they will have completed the planned refit and have fully lay flat seats if not the old seats are still very good, not sure if they have upgraded economy yet.

Thanks everyone, it's much appreciated. :goodvibes

The route we're looking at is Manchester-New York (economy, most probably). Wayne, do you know if all the older planes are having a refit? We're looking to travel next April.

Flight 155 from MAN looks to be a 757, had a look on Seat guru and can only see one showing for the transcontinental route http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Delta_Airlines/Delta_Airlines_Boeing_757-200_Trans.php
If you click on video it says AVOD (Audio and Video OnDemand) where every seat has access to several HBO movies, series, and specials.

Can never be sure til you board with any flight.

Thanks Wayne, that's helpful. I can't believe they charge for headphones though!

I think thats a mistake, they were free for us but they are useless, I tried using some but ended up getting my own out of my MP3 player, same fitting.

last time i was on a 757 was several years ago, but that was the worst plane of the bunch....but maybe they've been refitted since then..

i've also been on the delta Airbus and 747 and both were very good...

as for earphones, the last time i flew economy with them, i don't recall having to pay .....and that was several years ago....business you never have to pay...

I'm actually usually a bit amused by airlines that do this. TBH I find it a bit petty after passengers have paid several hundred £££ for a flight. I didn't actually know any of them charged until I was reading a TC brochure a few years ago and they were bragging about their FREE headphones in Premium :rotfl: I mean come on! Don't go spoiling your passengers now; they might just start to expect it :rotfl:

they claim it's required to pay for earphones in economy...
by international regs or something ridiculous..

but i don't recall having to pay the last time i was on their airbus in economy....but i simply might have forgotten..

I can't even count how many longhaul international flights I have done and I have never ever paid for headphones. So is it "duty free" prices since you are in the air? (Don't suppose you get online discont codes for that :rotfl2:)

as i said, the last time i flew economy was about 3 years ago....
i don't recall being charged at that time...
in fact, i'm not sure i've ever had to pay for earphones when flying internationally....maybe it's only on domestic US flights that i've had to pay? i've flown so many US domestic longhaul flights, it all runs together in my head...

in any case, cabin crews love to make up rules and claim that they're FAA rules, so i'd never put much stock in what they say...

when DD and I flew around the US for her auditions 4 years ago, every cabin crew on every plane, claimed a different "FAA rule" regarding her guitar...

one crew said it was an "FAA rule" that her guitar had to be checked with the baggage..
another crew said it was an "FAA rule" that her guitar could be in the cabin but had to be in the closet, not overhead..
another crew said it was an "FAA rule" that her guitar could be in the cabin but had to be overhead not in the closet...

and on and on...

and all of those crews were on delta planes....every one said something different...

very frustrating....
