Delta Ticket Advice Please??

We bought tickets several months ago through our travel agent; we paid 292.00 a person. We have been looking and we can drive to Raleigh and fly from there on Delta for 117.00 a person cheaper. I was wondering if the tickets can be changed to fly from a different airport? Is there a fee for this? There is 8 of us it will save almost $1000.00. I would love to hear if anybody else has had this happen to them and how did you hadle it. Is there anything I can do?? Thanks in advance for any help.

I know Delta has a $50 per ticket change fee. I changed by 1 day and had to pay the difference ($20) plus the $50 fee. I don't know how they work it when it's cheaper.

I believe the difference in fare would go into a credit voucher good for 1 year from original purchase date. You would have to pay the $50 change fee.

Better call Delta.... I am only guessing there would be their change fee, and any difference in the fare would be credited to you in the form of a voucher good for one year.

Call your travel agent and ask for her or his advice. Are your original tickets on Delta? It's generally very costly to change your departure (but easier to change your return flight home). In fact, it's usually like buying a whole new ticket IME. And I do believe that you can't change cities without buying a new ticket, but I could be wrong about that. It might be worthwhile to buy the cheaper tickets outright and save the original fares to use at a later date IF you think you'll be flying again in a year. (Realize that you will pay a penalty for this, so that will cut into your overall savings.)

It does make sense to work with your travel agent first...but, holy cow, what was she/he thinking to have y'all pay almost $300 a ticket from anywhere even reasonably close to Raleigh to fly to Orlando????? I have NEVER paid over $160 round trip per person, even before Southwest started flying from RDU. But, maybe y'all had really tough dates/times to work with. Good luck getting some relief!

My travel agent told me we could change the tickets and not have to pay the $50.00 fee. She explained by saying that they were bulk airfare and they had not been ticketed yet. We found the tickets we wanted she called to change them & by then the price had changed again or they were sold out. As it stands right now we don't have any tickets we are in limbo...The travel agent canceled before she had the others booked so now we lost our original flights that we had and it is sold out. I am considering booking the flight on my own but if we do that then the tickets won't be covered under the insurance that's in with our vacation package. So I don't know what to do?? This is a mess and I feel like I should have left it alone and paid the high ticket prices we had to begin with which were $292.00. I feel like I have to make a decision by Wednesday even though we won't travel for 2 more months our vacation package has to be paid by the end of next week. This is so much more stessful that it should have ever been. It's a vacation; there could be alot worse things to happen right???

Since you would consider driving to RDU, Southwest has roundtrip for about $200/pp until Dec. 10th. Even if you bought your tickets at that price, with 2 months to go, there'd be a good chance at getting a lower fare with them, either on the internet or with a Ding. The worst thing would be that you'd have to have the saved $$ credited towards your next trip!

I'd be shocked if you couldn't find airfare from RDU for less than what you were going to pay thru your travel agent. What are your dates?

I bought my tickets from southwest for 174.10 per person from Raleigh. I am pleased with that price considering we saved 117.90 per person from what we had to begin with. There is 8 of us none of which have ever flown anywhere. We are a little nervous about all of this but I feel a little better feeling like I got a better deal for all of us. Our travel agent just completly canceled the airfare of our package deal. I would like to thank everybody who offered advice.

We just got tickets from RDU for $117 in September. We're driving a little further but the price is 200 less! Add the nonstop flight into the equation and we can't lose

Good job! You will like flying Southwest...they make it fun, especially for "first-timers!" Be sure to keep checking the Southwest DING fares...you might be able to save even more $$$$$, which is a nice benefit of booking thru Southwest. BUt, no matter what, you have your tickets and you got a much better deal than you originally had. YAY!
