Delta "special fare"?

I just booked Delta for a great rate from Fayetteville, Arkansas to Tampa for $241.00 R/T each for late March. When I got the email confirmation, it was described as a "special fare," and that I need to specify this when we check in.

What exactly IS a special fare? Is it stand-by? Should I be worried? The planes on both flight segments were already fairly full. I don't want to get to the counter and have a problem. Like being told we can't board.

Anyone know?

Thanks

I don't but, I bet you can either find it on the website or by calling Delta and asking.

Thanks, Gail. I'll give Delta a call tomorrow.

You are welcome, and, after rereading my response to you, I think I sounded snippy and I wanted you to know that was not my intent. I am sorry if I sounded that way to you.

Gail- nah, you didn't seem snippy. I was probably feeling a little snippy myself, though. Afraid I'd jumped on a great fare that might turn out to not be so great after all. But so far it seems okay. I called Delta and they said "special fare" simply means that it would cost $100 to make any itinerary changes. I guess that's why the tickets were so much less, but we aren't planning any changes. I hope.

It's 8 degrees here at the moment, so WDW looks mighty good!

Glad you found out what the special fare is. Just don't make any changes and you are good to go at a good fare.

All the recent United Airlines flights I took also had "special fare, fee required for change" on a little orange 'sticky' attached to the ticket. I think all the tickets sold at less than full fare coach had that little sticky.
