Hi All,

I have never flown Song but noticed today that I can fly them nonstop out of Boston, in July, for the same price as Southwest out of Providence RI. I live on the Cape so I am in the middle so distance to an airport isn't an issue. I was hoping to hear anyone's experience with Song out of Boston to Orlando. the good and not so good, if there is any. BTW the rates are 525.60 roundtrip for 2 adults and one child. Are there child fares? Or are the prices all the same regardless of age? Thanks for your help.

Pam

I've flown Song out of Boston twice, and have found them to be very good. The flights I've taken always leave ontime, and arrive a bit early. The flight crews have been very friendly and helpful. You can buy food on the plane, ranging from chips and candy bars, to salads and sandwiches. The prices run from about $2 to $9 for food. They are supposed to be putting TV screens at all the seats, but the dates seem to keep on getting pushed back for that.

I do not know if they offer children's fares or not, as I don't travel with kids.

You may also want to look into flying on JetBlue out of Boston. They are new to Boston, and I've been hearing lots of great things about them. I'm flying JetBlue in April, and got a fare of $165--that's the lowest I've ever paid for a flight to MCO.

How about Jetblue? I just checked their website and they are also the same price as Soutwest and Song. I like that they have televisions at each seat. That would be helpful in entertaining my daughter during the flight. Can anyone please share their experiences with this airline? I would love to hear your stories. Thanks so much.

Pam

I booked JetBlue for my Aunt in May. They are apparently wonderful and generally charge less than Delta/ Song. Two drawbacks for us, however, they do not have curbside check-in (plus the operate out of yucky Terminal E at Logan), plus they take a while to post their fares (November fares not yet available). So for our November trip we have already booked Song, with whom we have been quite pleased in the past. And by the end of March, Song promises to have TV in every seat (JetBlue already has this).

Just flew JetBlue in February:

They do operate out of Terminal E at Logan, which actually worked in our favor, as we were flying during school vacation week, and the rest of the airport was a MOB SCENE, but the International Terminal was relatively quiet.

They also DID have curbside checkin. When we arrived, there were 3 parties in front of us, and about 40 ppl in line inside. The folks in front of us outside bagged the line and went in. We were done and heading to security, while they were still several folks away from the counter.

I highly reccommend JetBlue (have flown Song as well, and they were fine) I would take whoever you can get the best deal with, but I prefer JetBlue.

Wow, they do??? The nice lady on the phone at JetBlue alerted me that they did not have curbside yet in BOS. Hmmm, maybe the reservation agents don't know about it yet? That's great news Debster! Thx for the additional info. I quite enjoyed your report on your JetBlue experience earlier. (I still have the prejudice against Terminal E tho)

We just used Song last month out of Logan and loved it. It was pretty uneventful going down, but coming back the tv's were there...awesome. It felt like a 2 minute flight, so great. I am a big planner, so I like that you can book it 331 days in advance. I'd go nuts waiting for Jetblue to post their rates. But thats just me, I like to know WAY in advance that our school vacation flights are secure. Two thumbs up for Song.

They do not have online or kiosk checkin yet however it is coming soon.

Thanks for the replies. It seems like I can't go wrong with either airline. I do like the televisions on JetBLue but the first flight is 6:30 am! That means getting up around 3:30 to get there 90 minutes before departure. Of course I could fly at 11 but the earlier I get to see the Mouse the better for me ;) Song's first flight is around 8:30. Maybe I'll flip a coin.

FYI - I flew Song last week and they said they will have tvs on most planes in April.

Just booked our Thanksgiving flight with Song. I just couldn't stand the wait for JetBlue to open their window for that timeframe. Have to sit on the wing but with the tv's in place it shouldn't be an issue anymore. We love Song.

We just flew song in January. We were very happy with them. Took off on time, landed early. We had tv's on the way down, not on the way back.

I booked jetblue for our next trip in september because the $$ was less (I have heard great things about them too). I called jetblue today and they said that their fares for the rest of the year (nov and dec) should be out anyday. I am looking for December - song is too high.

(by the way Pam, I am on the cape too :wave2: )

Another Song fan - altho have not flown Jet Blue - my favorite part of the Song experienc was the EASY on-line checkin and the EASY kiosk at MCO. Took two seconds to print out our boarding passes in Orlando! If you travel with just carry-ons like we do, this is key!

::yes::
Sorry to jump on so late in this thread, but I have to put in a plug for Jet Blue. We have flown many airlines and Jet Blue is our now our one and only choice. You'll love it! No frills, yes, but courteous staff and great dependablility. We have even arrived in Orlando earlier than scheduled a few times! Good luck booking and keep checking back if you don't find a time/price that works for you. I was recently able to change to a better time and even with the change charges I saved money.
Have a great trip.

My dh flies from boston to tampa on Song quite frequently and likes it. We recently flew boston to mco on Jet Blue and had a great expereience. They did offer curb side checkin at logan and mco - we used both. Everything was just great and the kids loved the direct TV.

I would fly either at this point depending on schedule and price. I think Jet Blue had more room, the seats seemed wider and there was just a touch more legroom.

Thanks for this info!!! I'm waiting patiently for November to open up! I didn't have the money to book Song when they first came out plus I have a $45 credit with Jetblue from our upcoming August trip so all this waiting is killing me as I usually buy my airfare ASAP...330 days out!

I'll be checking Jetblue and here for any news that they've opened up November!::yes::

Haven't flown Song yet, but just flew Jetblue from BOS to MCO this week! What a great experience! There was a curbside "desk" set up with a Jetblue sign on it, but there was no one in sight. We did have to go in to check luggage, but even though the line was somewhat long, they had many reservationists so it went pretty quickly. The kids LOVED the TVs! DS was in his glory with Boomerang as we do not get this channel at home. DD liked that when she got her soda, it was a full can and not just a poured cup-full (the things that make us happy  ) I only wished they flew out of MHT which is a lot easier for us to get to.

I originally booked, then saw the prices go down a few days prior to our flight. I called them up, and without batting an eye, they credited me $175 to my TruBlue account. This will come in handy when DH and I fly down to WDW in November!

I also LOVED that I had assigned seating! I absolutely love SWA, but hate that "cattle-call" for boarding. I will fly JetBlue again for sure.

Does JetBlue give Seat Assignments ( i usually use Southwest who doesn't ) .. Thanks Michelle

Yes, they assign seats and the boarding process is excellent.
