Delta prices

We just booked delta from lake Charles, la to Orlando (via Houston) for $255 per person round trip for February 8-15. This was the best price I have found yet. The crazy part is that if we would have drove to Houston for the trip the tickets are around $400 pp. we saved $150 pp and get a more convenient flight. It don't really make sense but I guess delta must offer discounts to keep traffic coming to the small airports.

Who knows? Usually it's more expensive to fly from smaller airports.

That is an interesting itinerary. Delta connecting in Houston to Orlando? If you hadn't said the airline, I would have thought it was United, since HOU is their hub in the South, while Delta would normally shuttle you through Atlanta.

As for price, it depends on how much business the airline wants to draw from the smaller airport. If the seats could fly empty, then the prices will be lower. However, flights leaving a hub usually go for "retail" since they are the destination flights, versus the feeder flights. An analogy I use is a manufacturer that sells the same products n their website as retailers. The manufacturer usually has it at full retail price, so they don't undercut their customers.
