Seems that these are the two choices of Airlines that I have to book from.

Which would you recommend, and why?

Also--one has the layover in Salt Lake City. Is that a good place to layover? Easy to make connections? Because we only have one hour there. Good places to eat?

Thanks!:)

if prices and schedules are similar, I would say United due to the Star Alliance connection. Make sure that you sign up for their Mileage Plus program, or Air Canada's Aeroplan (MP is generally better) As you are Canadian, chances are that a future flight would be on a Star Alliance partner.

I have flown into SLC many times with no problems. A hour would be fine to make a connection there.

While I agree with Safetymom about SLC, I still recommend that you use the carrier which will allow you to collect miles to use in future.

Since United is a Star Alliance partner, and since you are Canadian, it is a better choice based on mileage plan.
