Delta online checkin, departing out of Boston

Ok, haven't flown since my honeymoon which was 10 years ago! We are flying Delta out of Logan Airport next Sunday! Do I do online checkin? Pay for my bag online? Any tips to make the trip easier. We have 3 dds ages 6, 7, 8. They will each have a backpack and we will have one rolling carry on along with my purse and a bag for our iPad etc...also DH is seated away from us...will we have an opportunity to move his seat at online checkin? The seats near us are preferred! Thx for any help!!!!

First, deal with the seats. Logon to Delta.com, call up your reservation and you can see your seat assignments. If you haven't done that already, it's possible your seats have already been changed, you'll want to check. You can also change your seat assignment online (if any are available). If you can't do it there, ask at the airport (either when you check your bags or at the gate).

Regarding paying for bags... you can do that when you online checkin (which you can do starting 24 hours before your flight) or when you get to the airport. You only pay for bags you check though, you don't pay for carryons.

I have checked, everyday. We were all originally together but they changed our flight time and aircraft so now it's 3 across and one aisle seat. DH will just sit a couple rows back if he has to. It's really not the end of the world. Would just be nice for us all to be together! The seats around us are all preferred. Not sure when or how to move him there....thoughts?

Preferred, I would check with the gate agent and find out how full the plane is. If it's full, he's not going to move. If there's a bunch of empty seats, ask about having him sit closer. If they say they can do so, make sure they're not charging for the preferred.

Never found online checkin for DL in BOS to be a good idea if you're checking bags. With bags you still need to go to a counter to check them so you don't save any time (or money) by doing online checkin.

I would keep watching your reservation to see if any seats open up. Then at 24 hours do online check-in to see if any additional seats opened up. I would pay for your bag online and print your boarding passes. You can then go straight to the bag drop line at the airport.
