hello,
I am debating on booking tickets 1 way from SW for $97 from OKC to MCO.
I have RT with Delta to leave on May 21 coming back June 3.SW has a ding today for $97 1 way.Ok so if i book 1 way with SW for my back up plan. Here is my question:if Delta folds i will fly SW down now can i get standby coming home on the 3rd of June?I wont need standby for the RT just coming home.
Can i do this?If Delta does not strike i will use my SW credit to fly some other time.I dont mind doing standby coming home but not going to.Cause my vacation will be over by then so i have time to do standby coming home.
Any suggestions?I have looked into renting a car & that is out as i can fly 1 way for the same price as driving.

I don't have a clue what you are planning to do, but I think what you want to do is fly SW down and DL standby home? Or do you want to use your DL ticket to standby on SW? (I think that's what you are saying)

As a general rule if you don't fly leg one of the round trip ticket you are out of luck. I have no idea how it will work using the method you proposed and I am not sure that anyone does....

ok yes i wanting to book SW down and use DL for standby coming back.
I did not know the rules about that. But you say if we dont fly standby going down we cant fly standby coming home.Well phooey this stinks.I cant come up with a plan B then. :guilty: I am afraid if we wait & they do go down it is going to be awful trying to get new tickets.Hubby wants me to just wait till they say yeah or nay which i have been reading they will not announce anything till Easter weekend is over. Thanks for your reply on this matter. :thumbsup2

You might want to check Delta's website - I didn't think they allow standby any more? And, as CarolA pointed out, if you don't fly any part of your itinerary on any airline (r/t only, obviously), the remainder of your itinerary is cancelled. By the airlines.

Why do you reserve a car like we are? You don't have to give your credit card to reserve one. If there is no strike, you just cancel your reservation.

hello,
i really dont want to drive as i will be by myself w/3 kids.I am also not good with directions & i am a nervous driver anyway.Plus for the cost of a rental car from Ok to Orlando for 2 weeks w/gas & hotels i can fly for about the same cost.So if Delta strikes i think i am going to fly Air Tran out of Dallas. It is a 3 hr drive but i would do that to get the $89 fare for 1 way. Thanks,
Denise

Just to clarify one thing.

DL does have standby. It's called same day confirmed standby and if you are not an DL high level Frequent Flyer it cost $25 and you can confirm up to three hours in advance.

Now for the OP, I would take a DEEP breath and wait just a few more days before spending any money or making any plans. My plan for my mother's tickets for example is to do NOTHING until they actually walk out. I will then IMMEDIATELY run to the SW website and buy tickets.....

LOL>you are right and i am sitting tight till an announcement & then i will be on Air Tran website & hope they still have the $89 tickets left. :thumbsup2
I will save $360 by flying on Air TRan,i do have to drive 3 hrs to Dallas but i think that is worth the savings.Hope you all have a wonderful evening & thanks to all on this board.Without you guys i would have gone nuts by now worrying over this strike. You guys have helped me alot & you guys are awesome :thumbsup2
