Delta/flight cancellation

Does anyone know a way to cancel a flight with Delta and get your money back? Or do you know a way to change flight date without being charge a fee?

Unfortunately, if you've booked a non-refundable fare it's, um, not refundable.

I just had to call Delta on this last week. If you do not show up for your flight you are automatically cancelled or you can call and cancel in advance.

Unless you bought a refundable ticket you will not get a refund. You will instead get a credit for Delta to rebook your tickets. The tickets must be booked in the same name(s) as the original ticket(s) and they charge $50 per ticket to do the rebooking.

Unless you bought an unrestricted ticket there is no way to avoid this.

Yes you will only get a credit for non-refundable tickets. Your locator number will become your "account number " to apply to another reservation. You will be charged a $50.00 dollar cancellation/ticket change fee per ticket. However once the credit is yours, you may use it however you wish. Either for yourself or for another person. I just did this for my DD and DSil to join us for our trip in March. You just need to use the credit within the time limits Delta gives you. It also facilitates the process if you are a Sky Miles member(free to join) but its not nescessary. Hope this helps.

You didn't say when your flight is, but if it's more than four months away, do as DebbieB says and wait for the inevitable Delta schedule change in two weeks when Daylight Savings hits. If the change is more than a half hour on either leg, that should be enough to get you a cancellation - they will try and say it has to be much more of a time change than that, but hold tight and tell them you have to have the original time due to other reservations that are inflexible. Be very nice, but insistent and they will usually help you out.

When did you make ur reservation? You do have 24 hours to cancel without penalty.

Delta IS NOT going to probably help as far as not being charged. We had HORRID customer service/ other issues with them, and have not yet even got an appology, and they are avoiding my travel agents calls to resolve a problem that was their mistake. You might can call them and see if maybe they will allow you to save your tickets and apply them for another trip, but you will still have to pay a change fee/price diff if a price diff is there. I know continental allowed me to do this, but as far as Delta well heh we are still fighting with them. Best is just to call them and ask. non refund tickets you wont have luck getting your money back on those.

Delta changed my flights a few times making my arrival later and later. I called Delta and asked for an earlier flight. CSR said according to their rules, they won't change unless the schedule change is more than 1.5 hours difference. However, they would change to the earlier flight for a $50 fee.
