or is it first come , first serve on the plane? I have all our seats picked out for 3 of the 4 flights. i had seats for the last one but something changed and we lost an option to choose seats for that flight. 'I want to make sure that my kids get the window seats we picked and we are not on the wings so they can see everything.

I know with little kids we can pre-board but I never understood that. Making little kids sit still longer than they have to.

Call Delta 800 221-1212 and ask them to reassign your seats.

Many times on Delta (it has happened to us a lot) a flight will change departure or arrival times, even by just two or three minutes, and the seat assignment will be wiped out. A quick call should fix it.

Good luck!

Unless you are flying SW, everyone will get a seat assignment before boarding the plane, and no, you can't just pick where to sit. You need to be in the seat assigned to you, and it might not be what you want, but that's the way it works.

If you are scattered around the plane, the FA's will work with you and other pax to try to get the kids with at least one adult but you might not be all together. And they won't move other pax so your kids can have window seats. If you end up in an aisle and middle, sometimes the person in the window will trade for the aisle, but not always. I've had people try to trade my aisle for a window, and I don't give the aisle up.

On no airline is the seat you picked guranteed. However, unless there is an equipment change it's not redone at the airport.

I agree with the earlier posters.. call Delta and get them to help you assign seats on the flight in question. The longer you wait the harder it will be to get your perferred seats as planes sell out.

I agree with you on the preboarding. My aunt used the "last second boarding" method when her kids were little. She would even send my uncle on with the car seats and run on at the last minute and shove the child into it. Those planes are fairly warm espeically in the summer so keeping them outside longer where they can run around is good!

You probably didn't lose your seat assignment on the flight in question. When there is a change, even if it is for a few minutes, you will get that message. When you call, they will tell you that the seats are the same, and update your itinerary online. The change probably just happened, as it seems to correct itself automatically within a few days.

Yes, funny thing about Delta's system. Change in flight times doesn't will result in your seat selection not being reflected on their system, and not allowing you to select a seat for that flight. Your seat is still there for you, it just doesn't show it. I'm not sure, but they may have corrected this with their new website.
I used to have this happen all the time and I'd e-mail or call. They'd re-issue the e-ticket because of the change and all be look fine again. Something the Delta folks seemed very familar with.

Nope it's not corrected with their new system! I just got off the phone because one of my seat assignments was listed as not assigned.

Having used Delta before I always look at the assignments every few days because things magically appear & disappear with their system.
