Delta changed my flight -- and I'm happy

I was checking our Spring Break flights this morning and found that Delta had changed our return. The connecting flight leaves before we even leave Orlando, so we "may miss your connecting flight." Ya think? I had to call to modify our itinerary. Before calling, I checked for other flights and found a flight that left at about the same time, but connected through a different city and actually gets us home earlier. When I identified that flight for the agent, she put us on it -- no problem. Then she says she has good news -- with that change, Delta redeposited 17,500 FF miles to my account. Yea!

The "there has been a schedule change" notices always make me cringe, but this one turned out fine.

We are booked to fly Delta for the first time in June. I was wondering if they changed their schedules often.

Yes they do. But I've been lucky, I ended up with better flights when I called them. For example, in 2010 the latest return flight I could get with low miles was 12:30pm. They changed our flight to 11:30am, I called and said that was too early and they switched me to 6:30pm for no extra miles!

Airfare has been STUPID since AirTran stopped flying out of Dallas. Our choice for non-stop is American, period. For direct flights we can go SW. For connecting we can go Delta. AA is $460 per person, SW is just below that (but no bag fees). I stumbled across a fare on Delta that gets us there and back for a total of $722 - ALL 3 OF US. The kicker is that the flight home leaves at 8:20 AM and routes us through Detroit. I would love to leave later and maybe connect through somewhere that makes more sense, but those flights were equal in price to AA.

I will definitely watch our flights since we have to catch a connection both ways.

Yes, keep watching. I didn't get an e-mail about the change -- I was just checking because I forgot the times of our flights. June is a long way off, so there very well may be changes to your schedule before then. If they do make a change, make sure you check for alternative flights before you make changes on-line or with an agent.

Delta makes changes to our itinerary every time! I actually love when that happens. For example, our flight to MCO next week was originally scheduled to depart at 1:30 pm. It was changed to 11 am. I wanted an earlier flight, but the 9 am was so much more $$$.

As a rule, if they make any change to your itinerary, even changing your flight by 5 minutes, you may pick a new flight. As long as your destination and date are the same, you can change your flights.

Flight change notices make me really nervous!
Delta changed my flights on my last 2 trips to Disney. Each time I was able to switch my flight for free to a different day. In September I arrived 2 days earlier (stayed solo at All Star Sport for 2 nights and had a blast), and also extended our Nov/Dec trip by 1 day. So it all worked out okay in the end.
Makes me wonder what's in store for my May trip.....!

Really, Delta changed all 3 of our flights to WDW in March, it as only by 10 minutes but I would love to be on a non stop instead.

They changed ours for our May trip. We were getting in at 7:30 pm, then we were getting in a 10. I called and said they will not work for us, and we got an early morning flight, non-stop, with no extra charges. Now I am waiting for them to change our return flight. Would love to leave Orlando later than 8:30 am.

Really, call me crazy but I love the changes Delta makes for the most part....it works to my advantage 99 percent of the time. i usually book with Delta as soon as they open. I pick the cheapest flight. They end up changing it because they are so far out. Delta always changes you to another flight that is of your liken no matter the cost . I have even had it changed by a day or two...

They almost always overbook to and if you have the time and patience, you will get free travel vouchers, I haven't paid for a flight in 3 years now and just got travel vouchers for tickets this coming December.

let Delta work for you too!!!

charley an :santa:

My flight is changed for Feb but I am glad because I thought the connection was a little tight especially since we wanted to buy food for the second flight. So I am happy there. In the past, Delta has always been good about fixing any issues when they changed my flights.
