There is a Delta 4 rocket launch scheduled for Friday.I understand when the Space Shuttle is launched,Disney makes an announcement in the parks.Do they also do that for the unmanned rockets?Where would be the best place at WDW to watch this launch? Thanks. :)

Probably on top of the sphere in Epcot...... :rolleyes1

Cape Canaveral is a short, easy drive from WDW. (We were there last year.) My bet would be on driving to the coast and watching from any beach location!

Cool! :wizard:

We were actually in EPCOT (not on top of the sphere however ;) ) during the last Titan rocket launch on Friday, April 29, 2005. No announcement was made. It was just before 9:00 pm when Illuminations is supposed to start. We were just hanging out between FW and WS on the Mexico side when we noticed three lights racing across the sky looking like 3 shooting stars traveling together. (We didn't know about the launch at the time).

We were perplexed as to what in the world was going on and a voice came on the speaker saying that Illuminations would be delayed due to a technical difficulty. This could be true, yet we had the feeling that it was delayed due to whatever was going on in the sky. We starting recording the sky's events with our camcorder and people all around us were watching too. Two of the lights separated from the three and faded out. Then the third light burned brightly for awhile while moving across the sky, a large white halo appeared like an explosion expanding out from the center, then it too faded out.

Within a minute or two (this whole process took about 5-10 minutes) after the lights in the sky all faded, Illuminations started. When we got back to our room we turned on our TV and the big news item was that it had been the last Titan rocket launch. They released a secret military spy satellite. (nice secret!) Never expected to watch a piece of history like that in our lifetimes!

we've been at WDW during shuttle launches and no announcement is made (or at least we've never heard one) and i very much doubt you would be able to see anything from so very far away (it's an hour's drive to Kennedy Space Center)....

you can drive to the coast and get a view from the beach.....but bear in mind that many launches are delayed.....so you'll make all that effort to get there and then it will be postponed for some reason or other (that's happened to us before)...

The Delta IV has been delayed until July, no specific date. You can get updated launch info from spaceflight now's web site. Sorry you'll miss it.

As far as good place to see a launch, anywhere with a clear line of sight to the east.

We were there that night and saw it. We were at the pool at POR and we didn't know what it was. It was very cool. :)

I agree and disagree with you.

I agree that you shouldn't drive to the beach to see it as they get delayed SOOOOO easily. Remember this launch itself was delayed.

Also, you CAN see it from Disney, even in the day. In the day you see the stream of smoke from it.

Note that florida is very flat and an hour drive is nothing when speaking of a shuttle. In fact, many times at night you can see them from the west coast of florida.

We were at Epcot on the night of the last Titan launch too, very cool!
