I'm finally getting a Dell, dude.;) Tell me what I need to know to get the most out of my notebook. I couldn't find a car adapter on their site, where would I find one?

Btw, if I have any problems from my Dell, I'm gonna find the person that's trying to jinx me and kick his butt.;)

My DH just went to bed, but if you havent gotten an answer by morning, I will ask him. He is a computer geek.

the computer isnt your problem ,it is the user

You can get most anything at Radio Shack!

Happy Delling!

Have you been using my computer?;)

OCM, thanks.:) I'm a semi-computer geek. I'm clueless about notebooks/laptops.

I looked at some stuff at Radio Shack the other day, MouseClubMom, but I admit, I got mesmerized by all the shiny, noisy stuff in there.:o:p I went in there to ask some questions, then my mind went blank (it tends to do that often:o:p ). I'll check there again. I'll have my kids remind me what questions I need to ask.:teeth:

he has a really good handle on what all is going on and how to configure systems for the best savings. If you want the current promo, order by tomorrow because there will be no promos wednesday-friday of this week or at least not very good promos.

if you have questions you can send my dh an email and he can send you a quote that will have all the part numbers and such so you can find them on the website. I will PM you his email address.

I need a computer geek!!! SERIOUSLY!!

Pssssssssssst...Don't every buy a CompUSA custom built computer. HEADACHES!

I looked into getting a car adapter for my Dell notebook. I believe that the price was $99. So instead, I opted for a device called an inverter which cost me around $40. The inverter plugs into a cigarette lighter and provides a standard wall outlet complete with 120V A/C power. I simply plug the A/C adapter that came with the notebook into the inverter and then charge my battery that way. No muss. No fuss. And I can use the inverter with my cell phone charger or anything else that I would normally plug into a wall socket at home.

Where did you get the inverter, John? Thanks.:)

Sandy, my hp has been a big headache, ever since I got it. Your ds could always become a computer geek.:)

and it certainly is way more computer than what we need...but so much fun...:)

Just to let you know, the Technical advisors are outsourced to India, which we didn't know before we bought.

I know that is an issue for some- not trying to start a debate:)- just an FYI.

Enjoy!!
:sunny:

We got an inverter, too - from either Staples or Office Max or Office Depot. It's wonderful - we can plug in anything in the car, not just the notebook. My mom got Dell's car adapter and it hasn't worked very well.

We got an invertor at Radio Shack, they have them at Sam's Club too. We got it for DHs notebook so the kids could watch movies before we were given a DVD player as a gift.

LOL, Ahutton. My ds told me when I get my notebook, he can use it to play games when we take trips instead of using his gameboy.:p I think when I'll go to Radio Shack this weekend (might as well take advantage of the no sales-tax weekend;)).

Thanks Katerkat. If I can't find one at Radio Shack, Office Depot should be the next closest store for me.:) I'm glad I'll have an alternative place to find what I need, just in case.

Thanks, mbb. That doesn't bother me.:) I hope they can understand my southern slang computer terms.:teeth: What kind of Dell do you have?

I'll forewarn him. ;)

Shannon you can also get an invertor at Target or Wal*Mart. We got ours at Target for $28 on sale. make sure you get the 2 outlet one. You will need it. we use ours for the tv and gamecube.

Thanks Beccy. I've got 2 outlets in my truck. I might see about getting 2 dual outlet inverters.:teeth: I can hear my SO now telling me about my alternator though.:p

Two out of three of our computers are a Dell. I think they're great!!:D

Enjoy!!!:Pinkbounc
