Delivering groceries?

My mom was saying something about maybe paying for a grocery delivery place (ex: gardengrocer -- it's stationed in Orlando) to send me some bottled water or something. How would the work? Would the company be able to deliver it to me?

I don't know if they can. I have never actually had them delivered but I know that there are places that will deliver to the disney resorts. This really does not seem too different except for that fact that there is higher security for the cp living areas. So I think they probably will.

It's a 40 dollar minimum order, so if you need to split it with people to get what you want, I'm sure you'd find people - the prices aren't that bad.

I don't know if they could make it past security, that's the only problem - you might have to meet them at the gate to let the guards let them in or tell security in advance.

Thanks! I will be flying, so buying things like bottled water would be really tough; I also don't want to constantly ask my friends to drive me to the grocery store.

Yeah, my family has used gardengrocer to get like bottled water and stuff to our resort, and I know they'll deliver anywhere in the area.

Hopefully a former CP can chime in, so I know if this would be a problem with security or not. It's not really a big deal, since I could always ask when (if, ugh) I get down there.

deliveries to any of the CP housing complexes cannot go past the security gate. you will have to meet them at the gate and then carry your things to your apartment.
IMO i wouldn't have groceries delivered- they are probably more expensive and plus you would have to pay a delivery fee or tip the driver... :confused3

Yeah, it wouldn't be me. This is my mom's idea. :)

you might want to set up an account at alice.com . I don't know about water but they have many grocery items and delivery is free.

Something you might be able to consider is having your mom purchase a gift card to Publix online. They mail it to you and it's really easy to use. My mom did this a couple times for me and I loved it! And... the CP buses go to Publix so you wouldn't always have to ask a friend to bring you there :-) Good luck!!

All apartments come with sinks and free water, so the bottled water is too heavy and expensive to be worth it anyway. If you're gonna be a girl about "clean" water, just buy a filter you can slap onto your sink's faucet.

A girl? Excuse me? I don't think not liking the taste of the sulfur they put in water is something to be a "girl" about......

Lol, thanks. FL water is known for being not so great. I may go with the filter idea, but I'm really used to bottled SmartWater.

It definitely is not the most appetizing substance on earth, haha. And filters I know don't always cut it.

Anddd no problem. We're all in this together. :grouphug: (I think I've been listening to too many High School Musical Dance-Alongs....)

Trust me Orlando's water doesn't have a good taste and if you can avoid it, avoid drinking it at all cost, same goes for their ice too.

Excuse me?
Like ZeroToHero said- that's not a girl thing- it's a personal preference

Saying it's a girl thing to prefer bottled water is frankly sexist and just rude. Bottled water does taste different from tap water depending on where you're at, and people have preferences. At school, I'm fine with the tap water--it tastes good. But at home, we have well water and I don't like the taste so we get bottled water (the bottles get recycled, of course).

If you really don't like the taste of tap but you're worried about how to get bottled water, maybe you could buy a filter that goes on the sink faucet? I'm thinking about buying one if I get accepted for this fall. Sigg bottles are environmentally friendly and the new ~it~ thing for people trying to keep up with trends..lol.

PS: Gardengrocer is awesome!

Thanks, I've heard about those! I'll definitely look into them!

We bought two water filter bottles, it is just like a sport style water bottle except it has a filter in the lid. They were $7.50. We plan to fill them with tap water.

We had a Brita filter in our apartment and we got through the CP just fine. You don't make a lot of money down there and having to buy hundreds of bottles of water will add up REAL fast.
