I haven't seen them in awhile, but at a lot of deli's there use to be a barrel of pickles in front of the counter that you could just pick a whole one out. Does anyone know what kind of pickles they were (full sour, half sour, etc.

I believe they were Kosher Dills.....

I do miss those...

They were the best. My grandmother use to babysit me when I was younger and she went to the grocery store 3-4 times a week and would always buy some and it would be part of our lunch. I can't seem to find ones that taste the same.

Our stores still sell them. My mouth waters just now from thinking how sour they are.

I will buy them on occasion.

We have reg. sour and hot sour.

They are full sour pickles. I get them every week at the Farmer's Market in NJ. They come from Mr. Pickle in Paterson NJ. OMG they are the best ever.

I always thought that they were dill.

They still sell them at Caputo's and Michael's Fresh Market stores in the Chicago area.

My DH is addicted to the Tabasco flavored Vlasic pickles. The problem is that you can only get them at the Target Superstores. Our Target doesn't sell many groceries (even after 2 remodels in the last 2 years~maybe because they're in a strip mall with Jewel and across the street from Meijer) so I have to drive about 12 miles to get them. When I do, I usually buy out all that are on the shelf. The cashiers usually give me this crazy look. They probably think I'm pregnant!;)

They are sour pickles here. We just had a new burger restaurant open up here and it has a big barrel of them for a quarter a piece. Its nice to relive my childhood memories and have my children have the same memories with me.

Hehehe! Just like a PP, I read the OP and my mouth started watering... ;)

The ones at the deli where I grew up were always soursoursour, and I was the only one who'd ever eat 'em. :lovestruc Oh, I just love those things!

I've actually seen them recently, but in individual packes wrapped in plastic. I haven't dared get one to try yet... :)

I always found it odd that Busch Gardens in Tampa sold big pickles sliced in half at there food places...yet they always sold..One day I got one...and it was OH so tasty...now I wish more places sold them...

I can ONLY eat Kosher Dill pickles, and I prefer the brand that is kept in the refridge section...not the warm ones..

I go to 2 markets, and get mine from them, or Picklelicious. Deli's by me have them, and there are a couple barrels at shoprite.

When I am in NJ over the weekend I will have to check the Shoprite by my parents to see if they have them.
