Deleting days at the end of a reservation

I've had an unusual kink thrown into my annual Christmas trip.

My daughter's school has moved their Christmas production back a week on very short notice. We try to book our stuff out as far as we can based on the school calendar but for the first time last week, they changed things on us on the fly. Politics. Anyway... :rotfl:

If I remove the last two days from my reservation, do I lose the entire reservation and then have to immediately re-book the "new" stay, or do I just take the two days off the end without putting my entire reservation in jeopardy? I'm pretty sure the answer is the latter but I just want to make sure.

Given that the reservation is for the first week of December (Thanksgiving Friday until the following Friday), I may rather eat the points for the last couple of days than to put the entire reservation at risk, though I'd certainly hate to lose the points if I can help it.

It's a 30 day window for holding, right? Is that from the first day of the reservation or against the days you're actually dropping? (We're still trying to decide whether to blow off the Christmas play or 2-3 days at WDW.)

I've seen this discussed before but couldn't figure out how to search for it and find the answer.

Thanks!

MS can modify the checkout date to shorten the stay without affecting the rest of the stay.

If you know you need to cancel and you are still within your banking deadline those points will go back into our account. Unless those were last years' points?

Last winter we decided to drop the last 2 nights of our stay while we were there to head home to beat an ice storm. Called MS and explained and since we cancelled the day before our points went into holding. Plus we managed to utilize those holding points during our June trip.

Anyway, you won't compromise the rest of your reservation if you drop the last 2 days from your trip. BTW we will be there that week also, at BCV.

Thanks guys!

It's 30 days out, right? Is that 30 from the first day of the reservation or from the first day I'm dropping?

The reason I'm so persistent is that the DD is still very wishy-washy on what she wants to do We're leaving it totally up to her outside that window. If it gets past that and she decides she wants to come home early; she's stayin'. ;)
