Its available from 360 days after your return flight.

Before I answer what you might need, I need to ask how you booked and do you have your booking references? They are on the Virgin Holidays booking confirmation form, for example. ::MickeyMo

To pre book your seats you need the airline locator, not an invoice number or 'booking ref' you can get this, and its something like VVH6FT and you can then access your booking on line, book seats, meal requests etc

First, dont get too excited about "pre-booking" your seats. It is a common misconception that you are actually "BOOKING" your seats, when all you are in fact doing, is REQUESTING your seats. Many, many people dont realise this (and I blame the airlines who dont make it clear enough, though there is small print which explains it :( ). So, even if you "request" your seats, even up to a year in advance, there is absolutely no guarantee that these will be the ones you will get.

Yes, you can book online, but Virgin Holidays customers sometimes will need to call as the reference numbers often dont work on the online system.

You need to go to the Virgin Holidays website (or Virgin Atlantic, if you have booked a flight only) and go to "Manage My Booking" (for VH) or "Manage My Flights" (at VA). You will need to input your reference and or booking numbers to access your flights. You will then find an "edit" command which lets you "request" seats and meals.

You dont need your ticket, the number from your Invoice is fine (or eticket reservation number). As I mentioned before though, it is not uncommon for these not to work and you may have to call them to do it.

Good luck.

Carol, I did just did mine for October, and I have no "Airline Locator number" I just used my booking ref! It worked fine!

I fly out on Sunday and hope that they will reallocate our seats so our Family (DH DW DS DD) can sit together. They have a bank of three seats and one over the other side of the plane.

How's best to do this, phone, Twilight check-in the night before, or on-line? :confused3

Mine worked with the Virgin Holidays booking reference too and according to three calls I made to VA at the time, they recognise via this info., but only when VH pass it on to them - this is after the 360 day period has passed. ::MickeyMo

I think Twilight Check In Trevor. At least that way you will have your boarding passes and your seats cant be reallocated!

I think online check in is also fairly good, though I have heard of people being re-seated when they get to check in at the airport. If you live close enough, then I would definately do Twilight. We did it this year and got the bulkhead seats for myself and my son that I had requested on the phone.

Thanks. I think I will go for the Twilight check-in. What is the earliest time I can check-in?

My flight is 12:30pm on Sunday.

Regards

Twilight Check In now opens at Noon on the day before you travel.

Good luck Trevor, hope you get the seats you want!

We did our requests on the Virgin Atlantic website and just entered the Virgin Holidays ref (*****/W05) and it seemed to detect our reservation and came back with the Virgin Atlantic ref.

On our last two Virgin flights we have got the seats we requested, so hopefull it will be 3rd time lucky :)

From Virgin Holidays website

Seat Requests
A limited number of seats are available for advanced seating from 336 days to 24 hours before departure. To request your seats visit Virgin Atlantic's website and go to 'Manage your flights'. Be sure to have you Virgin Holidays booking reference to hand to retrieve your booking and access the seat map.
:sunny:

Still can't get it to recognise my booking yet though

We booked our next holiday (just over 3 weeks time), with Virgin Holidays, and just used our VH booking ref (*****/S05) on the Virgin Atlantic website to pre-book our seats. All worked fine, and we now have our seats pre-booked. I'd say the best bet to guarantee your seats is to do On-line checkin 24 hours before you fly, as once your checked-in by any means, be it online, twilight or on the day, it is very rare for them to change your seat. Also using our VH booking ref, we've now entered our Virgin Flying Club numbers into our VA flight bookings, so we're even going to be collecting miles for our flights.
