you could also probably use a teeny tiny dab (using a toothpick) of rhinestone adhesive (found at michaels, or mjtrim.com). that's what she did on my birdcage...i think the rhinestones would look black if they weren't clear. the lady who made my veil told me i had a choice, iridescent crystals or clear ones. i got the clear! sorry, i LOVE to glitterize things, don't mean to hijack!

cryssi, the edging on your veil looks great!

I really could have used more, too! Like 500 would have been great, but that would have just been madness...lol

I used the instructions for a pencil edge, and I used silver metallic thread. I didn't make the zigzag really tight, though, so you can't really tell it's silver. The lengths are fingertip and blusher. I bought the metal comb at JoAnn in the bridal section. I have pics of the steps if you want them. I think I may have had a how-to post here, but it would have been awhile ago...

Thanks Caryn!

I bought my shimmer 108" bridal illusion from www.classacttutu.com because I couldn't find it anywhere locally.

The crystals I used were clear 3mm swarovski bicones. The Mickeys were round swarovski crystals. Clear thread is a real pain in the butt to use (hard to see) but I was really pleased with the results. If you do decide to use flatback rhinestones, I would recommend buying double the amount you are planning to use, and glue them back-to-back (is that how yours are, caryn?) so you don't get "black dots" if the camera happens to catch the back of the rhinestone...

did that make sense?

www.artbeads.com

my favorite bead site because they have FREE SHIPPING! :lmao:

the class act tutu site has the tulle... it is called "Glimmer Illusion"

It's so pretty... :goodvibes I ordered the white, since my dress was white. If you buy it somewhere else, you want to make sure it is 108" wide, so it is nice and full...

my veil will only be seen on one side, and the birdcage tulle is actually hat netting, so the space where she glued them won't be seen from the outside, this makes no sense...anyways, i understand your point about double sided rhinestones, great idea!

Oh, yeah, I didn't think about that for your veil...I was thinking that for the blusher layer, which gets flipped over your face (if you want it) you'd be seeing the back side of the rhinestones... We just put crystals near the edges of the veil.

ahh! I completely ignored that one b/c of the butterfly thing! Thanks!! Btw.. dont be surprised if I PM you for advise when I'm sewing the edges and comb... You've been a huge help so far! :yay:

you're welcome and no worries! I am here to help... :thumbsup2

geez, I don't even remember...1.5 maybe. Take the measurements off that website for the layers you want, and order accordingly?

OK I just checked my old e-mail and I ordered 2 yards...

I don't really remember, but I think the blusher layer may have been 22" I don't know. You really just take the one piece and fold it over where you gather it, so you can adjust the length accordingly... ;)

I bought the crystals and tulle this afternoon!! The dance site didnt send me a confirmation about my tulle... so the bridezilla in me may be sending them an email tomorrow ;)

Now I'm looking for a small white purse or clutch... gotta put some crystals on that too! I'm kinda tempted to get a little white Coach purse (my absolute favorite!!)... but DF will kill me!!! He doesnt understand why I need a purse in every size and color :cool2:

you go get your coach purse girl! tell him you got it on sale!
