As much as I'm not going to let the "powers that be" rattle me, there are some guidelines that "should" be followed by all.
1. If a thread is started on a wrong board, I think that a moderator should first politely pm or email the user who started it and tell them that you feel that they could get more advice (if that is what they are looking for) or more responses if their thread appeared on ---------board. Ask if they would like you to move it. IF a response it not given by them, simply move it to the proper board and tell them why it was moved on the thread itself. No confusion that way.
2. If a thread or post needs to be removed for other, more serious reasons (like fighting or just plain ol' nastiness), a simple email to the person would let them know it was removed and they would be informed of what their offensive action was.
3. Finally, and most importantly, the rules that govern this board, as well as all the other boards, should be the same on each and every board. I've seen threads started on other boards that I have felt would of been better responded to on another board and yet, they remain. Threads that have been started (and remained!!) for years without any problem or complain, should still be allowed. Not allowing them, all of a sudden, is kind of like changing the rules of Monopoly mid-game, just because you're not winning. It's just not done...and IF it is done, the other players tend to get ticked off.
Just my opinion.
