We lucked out and got to be the last family Mickey saw before his break. I always feel like I should rush when they announce that, but the characters seem to take more time when it’s the last child. So odd. I’m glad they don’t hurry through and rush off anyway.

CIMG3760.jpg

Group hug

True to what I’ve seen in the past, Mickey took his time with the boys to talk a bit. Well, as much as Mickey can “talk” anyway. It was fun trying to figure out what he was attempting to ask Blake. It turned out that Mickey wanted to know how old the little guy was! Blake was more than prepared to answer. Big brother taught him to show everyone two fingers on his last birthday!

CIMG3762.jpg

Andrew did have to add in four for himself.

In preparation for the upcoming June birthdays, Andrew has been teaching him to hold up three now. I can’t wait for a turnstile CM to ask his age. Maybe I should bring his birth certificate along? I promise he’s still two until June!

CIMG3764.jpg

CIMG3766.jpg

Andrew leaving with an “I love you” of course

As we left, the CM announced Mickey needed to rush off to check Pluto’s water.

CIMG3768.jpg

Mickey’s area was adorable!

We did a time check and decided more Christmas trees were in order. The boys decided this must be Mickey’s!

CIMG3772.jpg

CIMG3776.jpg

CIMG3777.jpg

We’re going with Lilo on this one!

CIMG3773.jpg

And Stitch!

CIMG3779.jpg

CIMG3780.jpg

CIMG3781.jpg

These trees were all just around Mickey’s trail, where we noticed another character roaming around Pluto has just finished visiting a family and now no one was in line. We definitely had time to fit him in like this!

CIMG3790.jpg

“Mickey is getting you water!” Blake had remembered where Mickey went. Pluto pointed to where Mickey was and rubbed his tummy.

“Where is YOUR Christmas tree??” Andrew was suddenly concerned that the poor dog didn’t have one. He had seen Chip & Dale do a number on their tree in the cartoon Did they ruin it?? Pluto shook his head and pointed to the other end of Camp Minnie Mickey. We had to go search for it

Along the way, we spotted Nemo’s tree!

CIMG3794.jpg

And one that just confused us.. What do you think? Is it supposed to be themed to a character?

CIMG3795.jpg

This one was easy!

CIMG3797.jpg

CIMG3798.jpg

FOTLK had recently let out and the area was a mess. We moved on in search of Pluto’s tree, passing Pocahontas, Thumper and his girlfriend, and Guitar Dan entertaining the masses.

“There it is!” the boys spotted our destination at nearly the same moment We’d found Pluto’s tree!

CIMG3802.jpg

CIMG3803.jpg

CIMG3804.jpg

Beside this we found Chip & Dale’s tree, too.

CIMG3805.jpg

CIMG3808.jpg

Andrew wanted to run back to let Pluto know we’d found it, but we passed up that idea. It was getting closer to parade time! We checked out a few more trees in the area before moving on.

CIMG3810.jpg

Coming soon! Mickey’s Jingle Jungle Parade! Modern Family is on right now.. Must watch.. I LOVE this show!

Guests had already started lining up for the parade, so we stuck with the first spot we came to. Animal Kingdom parades are mostly new to us. I wasn’t even completely sure of the route. We’d only ever watched the regular day parade by accident while eating lunch near Flame Tree (?) years ago and once upstairs at Yak & Yeti. Everyone was filling in, so we guessed it would be an okay spot.

I took a seat on the ground beside the stroller and began the relaxing wait until parade time. We always have such luck with stress free parade waits, right? Funny, I know. We seem parade wait cursed, especially with Christmas parades. Everyone at AK had seemed pretty nice so far, so I hoped for the best!

CIMG3813.jpg

We were directly across from here. Nice for an open seat, but not so nice for the sun!

The wait was surprisingly stress free. There were no late comers or rude guests at all! Hooray! The boys had fun hula hooping (or trying to) and John ran off to get us a snack. He found bananas somewhere. I expected something deliciously bad for you and he brought bananas? Where did he find bananas? Beyond those few funnel cakes, we really don’t do a lot of Disney snacks. I felt kinda cheated! The boys were thrilled, of course. I think those two must be half monkey for the number of bananas we go through at home!

CIMG3826.jpg

We sat for about half an hour and finally saw this approaching!

CIMG3828.jpg

CIMG3831.jpg

CIMG3836.jpg

CIMG3840.jpg

CIMG3842.jpg

We all LOVED the parade! I’m trying not to post everything that went by, but it’s tough.

CIMG3845.jpg

^ LOVE it! This was one of Andrew’s favorites.

CIMG3850.jpg

They seemed to be having more fun than anyone else in the parade.

Santa Goofy was my favorite. I loved the nice/naughty lists and all the super cute stockings.

CIMG3852.jpg

CIMG3853.jpg

CIMG3854.jpg

Donald? Haha..

CIMG3855.jpg

CIMG3856.jpg

Perhaps this is where John found the bananas??

CIMG3857.jpg

CIMG3864.jpg

CIMG3867.jpg

CIMG3873.jpg

CIMG3876.jpg

It’s snowing!! Loved it!

CIMG3877.jpg

CIMG3880.jpg

Icecream! That would’ve been better than bananas.

CIMG3883.jpg

I’m terrified of frogs.

CIMG3886.jpg

Pluto ran up to me! Aaahh! I never know how to react. Go to the kids instead, silly puppy. We had a little high five moment. It was magical.

CIMG3893.jpg

Mickey!

CIMG3894.jpg

The End!

I really did exercise an amazing amount of restraint when it came to sharing pictures. Seriously. My mission was all in one post, and I did it! That’s it for the parade anyway. We all really enjoyed it and were glad we’d come to AK afterall. Now that this was done, we moved on to one more important AK stop. Blake's favorite friend is at AK! We couldn't leave without saying hello!

CIMG3895.jpg

The crowd crawled along as we moved towards Dinoland. Andrew thought it was awesome being the parade behind the parade, but we were more than ready to head off in another direction when we could! We were moving on to visit Pooh, Tigger, and EEYORE!

When we got to the character landing, there was no one in line! Yay! We were able to breeze right through this project.

First up! Pooh Bear, of course!

CIMG3899.jpg

CIMG3901.jpg

I love Blake’s pose in this one!

Photopass!
Photo0043FourBySix.jpg

I stood back as John collected our photopass card to wait. It had gotten warmer as the day went on, so I’d unzipped my jacket. This exposed my Winnie the Pooh sweatshirt! Pooh saw it and walked back to us. I thought he was coming back to see the boys, but he went straight for me!

Pooh Bear pointed at my shirt and made a big deal over it. Then he grabbed my arm and started to give my camera to a CM! He began to pull me back to where he’d been standing before. No! Pooh wanted a picture..with ME! This couldn’t be happening. We all know I don’t do pictures. Apparently Pooh had missed the memo. I tried to reason with him, but he wouldn’t have any of it and turned me to the camera. I tried to put on a smile, but instantly felt twitchy. The CM snapped the picture and Pooh turned back to me for a big bear hug.

“I love you, Pooh!”

Ever see the Disney episode of Roseanne? Yeah, it was just like that. I grabbed his arm and we went skipping off to the rides next. Okay, not really.. I did tell him I loved him though. Pooh managed to get me in a picture. Notice that I’m not sharing it! ;)

We moved on to the next waiting character.. Blake’s most favorite friend, Eeyore! ("Favorite Friend" is really what Blake came up with to call his favorite characters and toys.)

CIMG3909.jpg

CIMG3913.jpg

CIMG3916.jpg

It must be in the official Eeyore handbook that you hide kids with your ears! Blake loves this!

It was tough to pull Blake away from his buddy, but brother managed it. He moved on to Tigger and started bouncing. Blakers couldn’t miss out on the fun. This was the bounciest Tigger we’d seen yet! He took some extra time to play before we could go. It was really sweet. I grabbed a few seconds of video while the photopass photographer snapped away.

We said “goodbye” and paused to check out our 100 Acre Friends’ Christmas tree.

CIMG3930.jpg

This was the end of our AK adventure. When I planned to pack this day with Christmas fun, I meant it. We had one more park to check out before heading home. We moved to the front of the park to go.

CIMG3932.jpg

one last wreath along the way.

No one raced this time. The boys were going without naps and starting to get tired. They were both content to rest in the stroller while we walked. Soon we were headed into our last park of the day!

CIMG3937.jpg

You didn't post your picture with Pooh??? Here I was thinking there was finally going to be a picture of you (that wasn't with a security guard) and then you didn't post it!
I'm glad you got a little magical moment of your own with Pooh though! :)
Love the pics of Blake with Eyeore. So cute!!! He looks so happy!

First things first...I LOVE Modern Family!! Cameron is my absolute favorite! AND Manny & Gloria! I've had a friend telling me I should watch it for about a year now and I never found time until a few months ago and now I'm hooked!!!

Anyway, sounds like a fun day so far! We LOVE Animal Kingdom, but I think its mostly for Expedition Everest, so I can see why that wouldn't work for you guys yet! I also think the theming is superb! We missed the Jingle Jungle Parade on our trip, it looks like it was awesome!

Wasn't Santa Goofy fabulous? We HAD to hunt him down for a picture as well!!!

I was soo close to adding it, but couldn't. :rotfl: The security guard pic is better anyways. I weighed less then! This dieting thing isn't working out for me. I've been in some of these though! ;)

I avoided watching Modern Family because it was so popular actually. I'm one of those types. I love The Middle and finally gave in and watched the others one night. It is sooo funny! I've been hooked since. Cam is the best. He is too funny! Manny and Phil are my other favorites, but everyone on this show is great!

We're getting soo close to EE height. We measured Andrew earlier this week actually. John thought he had it, but I think he's just a touch too short.

Santa Goofy was great! I wish they pick out something better for Mickey though. That outfit was disappointing!

CIMG3946.jpg

We wandered into DHS with another crowd of guests. I was surprised at how many were coming into the park so late. It seemed odd, something of a Fantasmic day. I’m not sure if there was one this night. I suppose there’s a reason to wait until the sun goes down to visit DHS this time of year..

Our first mission was finding dinner. I hadn’t planned anything, so the boys were in charge. It was easy. They only knew of ABC Commissary and Pizza Planet. Which would you pick? ;)

We soaked up the Christmas fun on our journey to find food.

It wasn’t too long before we found our destination. Even though all of our tummies were grumbling, the boys suddenly remembered something that they wanted to see again. We decided to go find it before our light was gone.

It was the snowman! They loved climbing on it and playing.

CIMG3979.jpg

Another family walked up for pics so our game didn’t last very long. We walked back towards Pizza Planet. As much as I love the fact that it doesn’t snow here, I bet the boys would be crazy over it. Andrew’s played in snow once, but Blake was too little to go out then. Someday I’ll plan a winter trip north!

CIMG3988.jpg

We parked the stroller made our way to the door. I had my camera out to snap some pictures along the way. As we walked in the door, my family was immediately attacked by two CMs!

CIMG3990.jpg

One on the left & one to the right.

Both welcomed us to Pizza Planet and offered help right away. We’ve never experienced this! Is Pizza Planet always so friendly? I think we’d only actually eaten there once before. We must have hit this place at exactly the right time. No line for food and super friendly CMs!

CIMG3992.jpg

CIMG3996.jpg

While there wasn’t a line, we did have quite a wait for our food. No problem really. This just meant it would be super fresh, right? I ordered a cheese pizza for me and the boys got the kids’ meals. John went with some sort of meatball sub.

With our food in hand, we asked one of the crazy friendly CMs about eating inside. On our last visit, it had been so packed we didn’t even think about it. I wasn’t quite sure where it even was We were directed upstairs and found lots of empty tables. Yay! Everything was going great. The boys loved how the area looked over the arcade.

CIMG3999.jpg

CIMG4003.jpg

CIMG4004.jpg

CIMG4007.jpg

The food was Disney pizza, so nothing special there. I do think the portions are crazy big, so next time I’ll split with Blake at least. John like the meatball sub, which shocked me. Why didn’t we eat at Pizza Planet more often? Oh yeah.. Andrew doesn’t like pizza! This particular visit, he ate every bite. He must've been hungry! It was a wonderful, quiet dinner.

Our table was in a corner near a window. Before the meal was over, we began to notice flashing lights on the next street! You know what that meant Our DHS mission was to see the Osborne Lights, of course. I wasn’t impressed with them the last time and would have been okay skipping them this time around if we couldn’t fit it in. The boys were a different story. Before this day, I had told them that we might not be able to get to everything at Disney before Christmas. December is just too busy to run off to WDW a lot, right? I promised to do my best, but asked what was the one thing they could not miss. This is what both picked! We hurried to clean up our table and go downstairs.

Before we could venture out, we did cruise around the arcade a little bit. John and I weren’t very impressed. The boys thought it was awesome. They don’t take much when it comes to games. I really expected something a lot more fun, and a claw machine! We’ve talked about this already. Disney is nuts.

/
The lights coming on wasn’t the only thing to happen while we were at dinner. The temperature decided to nose dive, too! It was so cold now, but it was fitting. We hurried to the Streets of America to join the fun.

CIMG4031.jpg

Despite not really being impressed with the lights the year before, I loved them this time around. I couldn’t decide what it was exactly. They were the same lights, so nothing had changed there. The music even seemed to be the same. The weather this time did feel a bit more Christmas’y with the cold. Maybe that’s what did it. I actually felt like Christmas. I don’t want the snow back for anything, but something about Florida in December just doesn’t feel right. As the “snow” started falling around us, it only got better. I turned and smiled up to my husband.

“This is Christmas.”

It was. He replied by telling me I looked beautiful with “snow” in my hair. He’s nuts, but I decided to kiss him anyway. In true Andrew form, we were interrupted to get moving again. There were more lights to see!

CIMG4034.jpg

^Andrew’s favorite part of the lights is standing under here.

CIMG4046.jpg

We paused to watch them dance now and then, but mostly just walked around to take it all in. I wanted to see that mysterious black cat, but had no clue where it was supposed to be. After a bit, I gave up the search. The boys loved all the little details around us.

CIMG4057.jpg

CIMG4061.jpg

We made it to the quiet around the side of the street and paused to make some plans. It was getting late, but everyone had hit their second wind with dinner. We could go all night at this point. Moving back into the activity, we still hadn’t decided where to go, but something exciting caught our attention anyway. Doofensmirtz tried to take over the Osborne lights I don’t remember this from the year before, but it was hilarious. Everything was audio, of course, no characters joined in to battle for control on the street. The dialogue was played up with reactions in the lights. Agent P jumped in to save the day and everything was restored to how it was in the end. The boys were cracking up in the stroller. So funny

CIMG4062.jpg

Deciding it would probably be best to head home now, we began to talk about leaving. Andrew broke in with a request to check TSM for the wait time first. I love how Disney trained he is. Even at four, there are some waits he’s not interested in, no matter the ride at the end! We ventured around to Pixar Place.

CIMG4066.jpg

blurrrr..

The wait was at sixty minutes. This didn’t seem terribly bad, so we went with it. Andrew and I joined the line while John and Blake went in search of their own fun. They didn’t end up going far, choosing to stop in for a visit with Buzz and Woody.

John told me their wait was around twenty minutes, but made fun by the other kids in line. Blake had been one of the smallest, so a couple little girls had fun playing mommy to him. Blaker loves posing with all the different things in here, too!

During all of this fun, Andrew and I are waiting in line. It was mostly boring. We didn’t talk to anyone, but did have to step to the side early on to let a woman rush by with her sick child. That was icky. Even more so when twenty minutes later we came to the spot where this began. This is too gross, I know, but I was so amazed at the CMs' inability to take care of that mess. It was in one of the rows before Mister Potato Head and no one seemed to respond at all until we were on the stairs. As we neared the spot where FP joins, I said something to a CM, but she claimed they already knew. Why weren’t they cleaning it up? It was on the floor for a full half hour, minimum, while guests jumped over and tiptoed around to avoid stepping in it. Not good, Disney! Hope the little guy was okay anyway.

When we passed the mess, something pretty awesome happened. Andrew was wearing his yellow jacket, and dancing around to Potato Head’s singing. When the potato stopped singing, he started talking to “the boy in the yellow” or something to that effect. Everyone around us started trying to get our attention. Andrew was the only one in yellow in the area. I heard it but didn’t think anything of it. Mister Potato Head was talking to Andrew? I had no idea he even talked to anybody until this day! It was pretty nifty. He was asked what his favorite toy is. I don’t remember what Andrew answered, but I do know it wasn’t Mister Potato Head! I’m thinking Buzz, but the potato just stared at him a second and moved on. How awesome!

CIMG4067.jpg

I prefer the Buzz ride at MK more than TSM!

Andrew and I joined our family to hear Blake’s adventures with Buzz and Woody next. Blake was excited that he'd ran to Buzz first! John said this caused Woody to hang his head. Poor cowboy. It does seem like everyone loves that new space toy more, huh? When John commented on it, Woody gave a thumbs up so Blake hugged him, too.

DSC09276.jpg

DSC09277.jpg

That was mostly it for us. While we walked toward the giant hat, the announcements came on. DHS was closing! We shopped our way to the front of the park. I’d been hoping to find a Mickey’s Christmas Carol dvd, but wasn’t having very much luck in the parks. We were simply instructed to try somewhere else. Probably a good idea, considering they didn’t have it here! ;)We grabbed a few little things and headed home!

Coming soooon!! Some more new Christmas fun.. This time at Epcot!

Sounds like you guys had a great day at all 3 parks! I love all of your pictures of the lights! I didn't get near that many. I think because it was in the 30s when we went so we were freezing pretty quickly!

Yuck! I don't do well with vomit well at all! It's a shame how long it took them to clean that up! Would you believe we had the same thing happy a few months ago at MK while in line for Buzz (hmmm, what is it with the Toy Story rides making people sick?). People were tiptoeing around it and when I told a CM he said they knew any someone was on the way to clean it up.

Can't wait to hear about your Epcot holiday fun! We had an excellent time there when we went in December!

I LOVE this picture!! He's so cute!!
My DH and I had a blast going thru this line on our first trip. I love every one of our pictures from the line!

It is pretty nifty how they made this area up. Way better than most M&G locations! Blake loves it. He's a huge TS fan. For whatever reason, he likes the second one best. :)

I took sooo many lights pictures. My camera sucks, so I was hoping I might get two out of every ten that were okay. :rotfl:

That is jsut nasty! It must be something about TS rides then.. It was sad how long it took anyone to clean this up. I can't imagine that everyone was just walking through without mentioning it when they got to the CMs.

Epcot at Christmas was brand new to us! I'm reeeally hoping we'll be able to do WDW a little more in December to fit this part in again. We all loved it. :thumbsup2

We've never been through the stand-by line for Toy Story Mania...we always ride Tower of Terror and Rockin' Roller Coaster a few times and then head over for TSM fast passes to use later. I've seen so many awesome pictures of the stand-by line though...I'm going to have to add that to our list! Maybe around park closing time when we couldn't be doing anything else!

I LOVED the Osborne Lights! We had such a great time checking them out!

I'm shocked that it took so long for a CM to come clean up when the little boy got sick! When we were at MVMCP watching the parade, a little boy got sick in front of us and a CM was there covering it with sand within seconds!

How is it after midnight?? I was going to work on my TR tonight! Hope all the mommies out there had a great mother's day! And those with mommies who are still here made it super special for her. :)

Standby at TSM is so cute! You've gotta try it sometime! I can understand that you'd want to rush to those crazy people rides before the lines get wild though. ;)

I couldn't believe the CMs took soooo long to clean this up. I do have theories about the service level at DHS compared to the other parks though. :rolleyes1 We've unfortunately seen this happen at MK a couple of times, and they were soo fast to clean it up and take care of the guests involved. It's good to know it's not typical handling!

This isn't a TR update. It is a Disney year update, so not really OT, Right? ;) It'll be part of the TR soon enough!

I'm busy working out the details for the rest of our Disney year lately. The way things look right today, we only have six or seven more days of Disney left! I've learned an important lesson this year. Do not plan your last long stay months before the AP year is over!

We've decided our Disney year will be ending in June instead of the actual AP expiration date. With crowds, weather, and Blake needing a ticket, it just seems like the best way to let this go. I worry we'd end our year how it began if we pushed into the summer. :scared1:

I'm a little stuck about the June birthdays lately so I decided to post my problem. :thumbsup2 I can't decide what to do about the cake. Would you get one there or wait until we're back home and do something here?

Things that make me say no..
* Disney cakes are expensive! The cake I've looked into having made here is $60. I'm guessing a cake there would run closer to $100, at least. They will be sharing this year. That's the rough part of having the same birthdate, I guess. I'll separate them for all the big milestone birthdays though. ;)
* A Disney cake wouldn't really make it beyond the meal. We check out the next day and will be spending it in a park. We could have it for breakfast, but a lot would be tossed out. It would be a bit of a hassle having to take it back to the room after dinner.
* If you read the cake thread, Disney doesn't have the best record when it comes to cake making. Our last wasn't anything like I'd ordered.
* If we get it here, they get another day of birthday celebrating. :thumbsup2 (Though the original reason for Disney birthdays was to skip doing much here!)

Reasons to get the cake there..
* What's cooler for a kid than a birthday cake at Chef Mickey's?? :yay::yay::yay:

WWYD? Am I thinking too much about a silly cake? :confused3 The boys aren't much help. They want both!

Just for fun.. I'm adding a pic of Blakers.. We were all playing "Blake & the Neverland Pirates" today.
DSC01015.jpg

Ohhh, tough decision!!!

I think the original gut instinct is, Oh, a cake at Disney World, how fun and exciting! However, all of the negatives that you posted make a lot of sense, especially the fact that they are so expensive and often not of the best quality, or what was actually ordered!

Maybe when you are at Chef Mickey's you could put the birthdays on the ADR and also reiterate it to the waiter/waitress that it is the boys' birthday, so they will at least get cupcakes and be able to blow out a candle at dinner and then you could have the true cake celebration at home at a later time?

:idea:Oh oh oh, maybe you could give the boys a card from Mickey during dinner saying that they will have a surprise at home later, and that could be the true birthday cake when they get home!!

Oh, and don't worry, my brother and I have birthdays one day apart, and we are not scarred for life about having to share our special days! We always celebrated our birthdays at the same time! It was actually kind of fun and now, even though we are all grown up, we still refer to it as "our birthday" when we talk about what we should do!

I like CAStevens's idea. Play it up at Chef Mickey's and then have cake at home...I mean seriously, if you tell them that all 3 boys have the same birthday...I'm pretty sure cupcakes are guaranteed!! That story is just WAY too cool!

Also, I'm very sad that your Disney year is ending cause that means your TR is going to end soon too... and I love your TR. You're probably sadder than I am though...:sad1:

AND...BTW...Blake looks SO grown up in that photo!! He's grown up a lot from the point your TR is currently to real life time...

Does this mean no more AP's for your family and no more TR's for us :scared1: That is not an exciting thought. I would do the cake at home and spend the extra money on whatever they need there :)

I say do a cake at home and get cupcakes at CM. As long as you list the birthdays on your ADR, they will be sure to bring cupcakes. Olivia's birthday ended up being listed at all 14 of our ADRs in December, and she was given cupcakes at all but 2!

I have to say how stinking cute that picture of Blake is!!!! Olivia was sitting her with me and she saw it and said "He looks just like Jake"! She is totally obsessed with that show and would watch it 24 hours a day if I let her! Have you guys been to the new Disney Junior show at DHS? Olivia loves the Jake part!

I'm sure Andrew will be sure to let EVERYONE we see that day know it's their birthday. :rotfl: I think I'll go with this idea though. It does make the most sense. I just feel like a "bad mom" for not going all out while we're there.

I like the card idea a lot. Before our first visit on the first AP year, I mailed a letter to Andrew from Mickey. I might follow that, so he knows ahead of time.

Glad to know you didn't mind sharing your special day with your brother! I'm hoping the boys will always get along with it. That sounds so sweet and special!

I had totally forgotten about the cupcake thing already! Chef Mickey's has that crazy sundae and dessert section that they love, so I know they won't need some sweets that meal anyway. :thumbsup2

He has grown up.. and way too fast!

Does this mean no more AP's for your family and no more TR's for us :scared1: That is not an exciting thought. I would do the cake at home and spend the extra money on whatever they need there :)

No more APs for us. We are still hoping to do MNSSHP and stuff later in the year though. There will be more fun to come!

I say do a cake at home and get cupcakes at CM. As long as you list the birthdays on your ADR, they will be sure to bring cupcakes. Olivia's birthday ended up being listed at all 14 of our ADRs in December, and she was given cupcakes at all but 2!

I can't believe I forgot about the cupcake thing, especially since I've been reading your TR lately. She got so many!

We love Jake & the Neverland Pirates! Blake is crazy over how "Blake and Jake sound the same!" and would watch it all day, too! I think they aren't sticking to using that pixie dust only in emergencies though. :rolleyes1 They use it everytime there's a problem. We've seen the new Disney Junior show a few times now. They love it!
