I have done the long drive back from Disney, not fun. I am used to long long long car rides though. My dad is in the navy and we were always moving and every time we moved we drove and turned it into a vacation.

Halifax (east coast) to Victoria (West Coast)
Victoria to Ottawa (east coast)
Ottawa to Monterey, California
California back to Ottawa
Ottawa back to Victoria
Victoria to Virginia Beach and one last move
Virginia Beach to Kingston (that was the shortest drive, only 12 hours )

I totally know what you mean! If I'm ever staying anywhere for more than a few days, I bring my own bedding. When we go to the beach every summer for a week, I bring my sheets and comforter and pillows, my DH thinks I'm crazy! But it does skeeve me out, too!

Time to come out of the shadows, I read your trip report before my December vacation and it helped to get me excited. Oreo is very cute and funny and I would looove to stay for three weeks.
