Delaying a FP return at a sit-down restaurant

I read somewhere that if you're at a sit-down restaurant and you're going to be late for your FP return time, they're able to delay your time for you. Is this true and if so, how?

My expience was the opposite -- at the FP machine, not at the restaurant. Our FP return time would have interfered with our PS reservation, so we asked the CM at the machine to change the time. She wrote a later time on our FPs, and everything worked out fine.

I have heard that the manager can sign the FP's and write a later time on them. That's what happened with a friend when their ADR at Carthay was delayed 35 minutes and they mentioned to their server that they were in a rush so they didn't miss thier RSR FP window.

This happened to us and the server told us to show our receipt with our Fast Passes.
