Delayed Access to Site Due to Spike in Demand

This situation with the website today is really inexcusable. DVC knew almost every member was going to go online today to check their dues. And even worse is they sent an email out to all members to logon to see their dues statement when they knew the dues page was crashing all day. The person responsible for this mess should be fired. This is not the first time the website has had a problem it has been going on for years. We as members are paying to use this website either through our dues or through the management fee we pay dvc.

Delayed Access to Site Due to Spike in Demand
Due to a large spike in Member activity on the Disney Vacation Club site, visitors are being directed to a queue where they can wait for their turn to receive access. If your need is not urgent, you may wish to return at a later time to access the site.

Anybody has this occur to them yet?
Yes. I saw the email stating that the maintenance fees are now posted online, so I went to the site to check. I was put into that queue. Is it just me, or shouldn't a site like DVC have the ability to accommodate a high demand of members going onto it? Sometimes it seems like DVC cuts corners and skimps on things.

Fired? Really? I mean it’s inconvenient, but hardly worth someone losing their job. Not everyone cares about checking their dues today. Its not like the amount is going to change or anything.

DISNEY IT SUCKS!

They know every year that this will happen and they can't prepare for it? What waiting room, all I usually get is a blank sceen except for the word HOME in the top left corner. When I do finally get in and say pay my dues I get the spinning circle for awhile then get the trouble screen with the image of the seven idiots what run this site.

Yea, they need to be fired. This is just more of the bad service that Disney has been providing their customers now while charging ever higher prices.

You have to remember that Disney outsourced just about all of their IT to reduce costs, this is what you get, poor service.

Yup. Sitting in the cue waiting. Same old BS website that will never be fixed. Never heard of a business at this scale with such an unreliable website.

I guess the string and baling wire they use to hold the site together finally broke.

I finally get to the point where I can enter my CC info and make a payment but it errors out saying my payment is late and I may owe a late fee. But then it also says when I try to pay that I'm paying more then the amount due, which is now $0.00 and any overpayment will be applied to next year. I give, guess I'll need to call on Monday and see first of all how many hours to get through it takes, and if they can figure out what's happening.

I think the frustration is related to more than just today's issues with the site. This happens all the time. The site is awful and poorly managed. This is kind of the straw that broke the camel's back. I am guessing the "fire the person responsible" has more to do with the accumulation of the site's historically crappy performance, not just today's issues.

And imagine if today was your 11 or 7 month window day. I know I would be pretty heated if I was trying to book a trip and couldn't access the site literally all day.

Yes fired you miss the point they knew there would be a large amount of traffic on the site and also invited all members to go to the site when they knew it would not handle the traffic. There is no excuse and this is not the first time the website has had problems.

Been there done that. Messed my whole plans up earlier this year due to this incompetence from Disney. And they obviously don’t care because here we are still dealing with it.

I don't understand what is happening. Im not getting any message saying I am in a queue. Just a blank screen with an occasional circle of death. I've had better luck getting highly sought after fast passes or dining reservations than just plain getting on the DVC website today.

Same, never got a screen about a queue, just blank screen.

Hey folks, if you just purchase the new Genie + DVC you can reserve a time to log on to the website.
Sure, but you have to wake up at 7 to make the reservation, you cannot choose the time you want and only get whatever they give you, you can only access each page once, the dues page being the most requested requires an extra fee and you'll probably end up in a line at the guest experience team because nothing is working.

It's 10pm pacific time, 1 am eastern and I just got placed into the queue due to website traffic. :sad2:

Finally got on this morning. Having my morning coffee and tried at 8:00am EST and was able to get access. Now I know how much $ in Disney gift cards I have to purchase. Yay.
