I am planning a trip for my daughter an I towards the end of August 20-29and I would love some feedback on these two properties. Last time we stayed at Ramada Inn Maingate but the rates this year are to high for our budget. We need to keep the rate below $70 a night. Del sol is $69 / night and Desert Inn is $59 for all night except for the first.

We are looking for a microwave and fridge in room and we will need wifi to keep in touch with hubby and son who are staying home.

Hoping to book our flights soon just need to figure out where we should fly from..

thanks

I found Del Sol to be just fine. It almost always has the best price/proximity to gate ratio of walking distance hotels. Of seen lot of negative reviews on this hotel, but on my stay the room was great. Very big and clean. No problems except the tight parking.

I would guess the Desert Inn would be nicer because it has a newer building, not new but not from 1960. It does have an indoor though, a drawback in August.

Neither will have free Wifi, that's rare around the resort.

I might suggest code LPW3 for the Ramada Maingate, 15% off.

Also the Anaheim Plaza Inn, it tends to have the lowest cost within an easy walk.

we have stayed at both a few times each desert inn is a little newer but really they are about the same distance and are both a bare bones motel.

we would stay again at either one i think desert nn now charges parking and resort fees you might want to check for sure.

i have stayed at both and i have to say i would pick desert inn over del sol any day. I haven't stayed at desert inn since 2008 but it was very basic...nothing special.. but perfect for the type of room we needed. We don't spend much time in the hotel so it was basically for sleeping only. The pool ...looked disgusting. we never used it but it didn't look very inviting.

the del sol was BAD. it's a cheap motel and it feels like a cheap motel. we stayed there in may of 2009 and decided never to stay there again. there were stains allll over the floor of our room. Because of this we went down to the lobby and switched into another one asap. during the trip we encountered many problems.

A list :

1. Our neighbors (or so we thought :confused3) constantly jiggled the door nob on the door connecting our rooms... it happened every night around 2 am waking us all up. In the mornings we would walk by on our way to the park and the curtains were wide open and not a trace of luggage in the room. Don't know who was doing that but we did NOT like it

2. the shower head was WAY too low. I am 5'7 and had to bend down! my 5'5 cousin had to as well.. it was crazy and it wasn't adjustable.

3. Speaking of showers.... the water temperature was insane. you could only get a luke warm.

4. two of us got locked in the bathroom. the door spazzed and the door nob was turning but the door wasnt opening. for me to finally open the door took about 4 minutes ... which even though not that long freaked me out. the bathroom is tiny with just a toilet and shower and no ventilation. complete claustrophobia right there.

5. the parking is terrible. we have an suv and had one heck of a time getting into the parking space and back out of it.

Overall ...it was NOT an enjoyable experience. We didn't have any of those problems at desert inn! I know my review is based on a stay almost 2 years ago ... but incase things haven't changed ..I wanted to warn you!

I stayed in 2009 so a year later than you. Like I said above "seen lot of negative reviews on this hotel, but on my stay the room was great. Very big and clean. No problems except the tight parking."

Yeah and maybe it was just a bad time to be staying there... no visit is ever the exact same. The fact that the second we walk in the door we find some nasty stains on the floor kind of set the mood. I find it needs to be updated. Another thing that really turned me off from the hotel was getting stuck in the bathroom... and having that not only happen once but twice. Based on that one trip I would honestly say I would not want to stay there again.

If they fix the place up and I start hearing some better more positive reviews I might give it another try ...but until then...nope. I think with some renovating it would be a decent little motel.

Does anyone know what Anaheim Desert Inn charges for the wifi? Their website says they have wireless internet but it doesn't say anything about the cost.

I believe our last stay at the Desert Inn was April of last year and I remember having to call the front desk for the password to hook up the internet; however, I don't recall being charged for using the internet.

I just called Desert Inn & Suites.
The man that answered the phone said, "We have free Wi-Fi, currently."
So it is free now, but maybe it won't always be?

Also, they do have an $8 per day parking fee now, as well as a $4 resort fee. So when comparing prices, make sure you add in the extra $12 in fees per night.

Thanks, that is good to know. I had already taken into account the parking and resort fee but I'm glad I don't have to add an internet fee into my budget.
