Do any DISers have experience with the Del Sol, a small motel that used to be the Best Inn? Following a link from Mousesavers, I read a good review by Bret, who has an awesome spotting map. We want to go on the cheap this time, but we don't want to end up in a dive.
Hope someone can give us some guidance.

I have a friend who stayed there right after the name change and she said it was a DIVE. the beds were so uncomfortable she slept in her car for a night, then moved hotels all together. She had roaches in her room and someone's sock in her bed it was there the first day she tried to sleep in it, so she knew it was not her's.

Things might have changed since then, but I wouldn't take that chance. Maybe you can find a similar rate at a different hotel.

STAY AWAY!!! It sounds like the only thing that has changed about this hotel is the name. We stayed there 4 years ago, and the description above was the same then as it is now. Try the Desert Inn and Suites it is right next door to that hotel, not the Ritz but nice and still very close to DL.

I have always stayed at the Desert Inn next door, but decided to try the Del Sol last year. I wouldn't recommend it. The beds were uncomfortable and there was a strong mildew smell. The difference in price between the Del Sol and the Desert Inn was about $10, which for me is well worth it.

Other options on the cheap..
Entertainment card rate at HoJo's for $45 a night, depending on availability for the rate..call early!
Also, Internet special rates range from $59 to $89 per night.

Use Priceline. I have stayed at the Hilton and the Marriot (both are by the convention center) for $40 or less a night.
Go to www.biddingfortravel.com for excellent advice on the best way to bid.

Whew! We'll steer clear of the Del Sol for sure.
Thanks to all who posted. Isn't it great to have DISers to turn to for stuff like this?
