We're pretty loose around our house, with the exception of DS 14. If he's around, I shut the door out of respect for him, but if he's not I'll leave it open. DH shuts the door always because of DD, but he doesn't lock it.

Showering when I'm alone in the house is another story. I do tend to shut the door or at least block it shut because I don't want an uninvited guest hopping in the shower with me. aw:

Just to use the bathroom, I don't shut the door, but for a shower I do - 'cause I hate getting out into a cold room, so before I get in I close the air conditioner vents and the door and turn the water on HOT and let the room steam up. Them I take my shower and get out into a nice warm room.

Before I married I used a space heater to warm the room and DH freaked out about that and said it was dangerous. Yeah, I knew not to get it close to the water, but it sure was nice to dry off in front of it. DH has a "thing" about space heaters though, so now we don't have one.

Boy am I glad to find out that we're not the only ones who almost never close the door Now that my DS is a teen, I do close it if he's around but if he's not, its a free for all at our house. After reading this thread I thought I'd pay attention to the kids a bit and it seems that neither (including DS) close the door. Of course, both bathrooms are big enough that you'd have to go into the room to see the toilet area

In my home there is no privacy for me. Whether I am in the shower or whatever DH, and both DDs walk in on me to ask me something so I never close the bathroom door at home. What is the sense to it, when I know someone will come in. If it isn't one of them it will be one of my furry friends. We have 3 cats.

I keep it shut all the time. Mostly because when i'm at home, i have 2 brothers that are pretty much around whenever i'm home (we're all in college), so it's my only form of privacy. What sucks is that i have to actually share the bathroom with them, which sometimes doesn't work out too well.

I hardly ever close the door all the way -- just part of the way. If I close it all the way, the cat will scratch trying to get in.

Besides, the door to the house is always locked whether we are home or not. So no one can come in without me knowing it.

Ummm, there was that 1 time though that my BIL walked into our house & caught me standing at the bathroom sink NAKED after taking a shower and the bathroom door was WIDE open. LOL

He has now learned to use the door bell & WAIT no matter how long it takes someone to answer.

Honestly I only close the door when somoene other then those that live in the house are there or if I am at someone elses house.

I don't close the door when home alone but when I take a shower I do close the door. Masterbath has no windows and is dark so I need to put the lights on. There are pretty bright and the lights enable you to see in from the outside of the bedroom window for some reason? You cant see me on the toilet from the window but my naked self walking out of the bathroom is not what I want the neighbors to see.

I have two little kids and if I close it DD opens it anyway to check on me.

Only if I am taking a shower.

I always close it if I am not alone, but I am not sure why, as my 4 year old always comes barging in on me. Amazing how he always has some pressing issue whenever I have to go to the bathroom.

I have to close the door. Anyone looking in my front door can see right into the bathroom.
The last time I left it partially open, my bil was looking in the front window. I had just stepped out of the shower.

I have my own place (live alone...besides a pet) and the door on the bathroom is almost useless for me. Even when I have people over, I have to make a true effort to remember to close it.
