Deepfried breaded shrimp--isn't it supposed to be deveined of the poopvein?

Didn't I hear before that the vein that is usually deveined from shrimp, is their poopvein?
I am eating ovenbaked deepfried shimp from Seapak...yummy, but the poopvein is still there..kinda blech. Trying to ignore it lol

Is that right that it the shimps poopvein or have I been wrong all these years? Anyone know?

I'd toss them now, or take them back to the store and ask for a refund.

Been eating deep fried poop veins for 55 years and still alive, I thought they poop out somewhere else and it is just a vein.
I just don't disect my deep fried shrimp before I eat it.

I don't think there is anything wrong with them, I have seen them with the vein in before too. We just had them in a restaurant recently and some had the vein. I don't think it will hurt you, just why don't they completely remove them lol.

The breading is covering up the veins But some veins are sticking up right through the breading I know, sounds gross

Shrimp are deveined for aesthetic purposes and because the contents can be a bit gritty, not for any sanitary reasons. Properly cooked shrimp are safe to eat regardless of whether this 'vein' has been removed. Improperly cooked shrimp is unsafe regardless of whether this 'vein' was removed.

I do not think that is what you think it is. It is called the sand sack and my son works for a large seafood chain in NE in the lab where they test all the shrimp etc and he said it is okay to eat. If that makes you feel any better. HOwever I personally would not eat it...it just looks gross as it does in the lobster tail.

Other way 'round: It is called a "vein" but that's actually not the case. It is the creature's digestive tract.

These shrimp were the frozen breaded ones from the Seapak company that you bake.

SSB grew up in a small town where shrimping was the main industry... and I would not want to eat any shimp that had not be de-veined. EEK! That is one step in shelling that should not be missed.

It is commonly left intact in small or medium shrimp, and usually removed in larger shrimp.

He does indeed! Mainly because he is going for high quality food, and especially in larger shrimp, it can make the taste extremely gritty.
