Dedicated Doggie Thread!

Your Darci looks like my mother's Harley. They are so sweet. And smart!
Not Darci. She is sweet but dumb. We say about her: "Don't hate me because I am beautiful. Hate me because I am dumb as a rock." I will take loving, playful, sweet and stoopid over smart and dog-aggressive (our Japanese Akita who is long dead) any day!

Awwwww. :rotfl2: Poor Darci.

Harley is VERY smart. But, she hates me. She bites my heels on purpose.

Here's my Lucy! She's a six month old Sheltie and my first dog. She's at the vet today getting fixed. :sad1: I think I feel worse than she does.

Awwww! SO many cute doggies!!! I love this thread!

Here are Daisy (boxer/lab) and Jake (wire-haired terrier mix).

We "dog-napped" Daisy from behind a bar~she was starving:sad2: although 9 yrs later...she seems to have recovered:rotfl2:

Jake came along 8 yrs ago after we lost our Border collie mix and Black Lab Mix in a house fire. Daisy was SO lonely:sad1: We adopted Jake from the local animal shelter and I SWEAR Daisy housetrained him!:lmao:

The are beautiful!! They look so chilled out LOL. I'm very sorry for your loss, how horrible. :(

I think it's the glowing eyes and bared teeth. Like I said, he looks like the wolf from Neverending Story, who was most definitely evil.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Okay!!
I realize what you mean now that you say "bared teeth"! BUT THEY AREN'T BARED! He is just all white around his mouth! Look again. He has a little white goatee. And the glowing eyes are the fault of my poor quality camera!

Here's my sweet boy. He's a Pom. Best dog we've ever had.

How did she manage to housetrain your other dog? Got any tips because I could use all the help I can get!

My Mattie Monkey is still working on the house training thing a year later. He does not like to pee outside for whatever reason, we walk around the complex until he finds something worthy of being peed on. The worst is nighttime. He still poops and pees in his crate at night. Erie has had bed privilidges for a long time, Mattie still does not because I can't trust him. I tried letting him on the bed because I thought he was cured of this only to find out he was pooping and peeing in a corner in my room while I slept! Now it is back to the crate! I thought they were supposed to have some kind aversion to peeing in their crates.

OMG Rella, it really does look like he is baring his teeth. How hilarious!

Lucy is adorable. I think you're right, we probably feel worse than they do! My two boys don't even seem to notice it.

My boy is having it done at 6 months, so I have four more months of feeling sorry for him losing his manhood! But I've been told that neutering them really is best for them, so we'll go through with it.

This is a take off of the Obama girls dog thread!
Post pics, stories, complaints...whatever about your pooch!
No debates, no politics, no hateful, snarky comments.....just man's.....and womans best friends!!

Where's Cookie????

BTW....Gunner sure knows how to hold a pose!:lmao:

This is Hardy. He is 6 months old. We adopted him from the Humane Society on July 1st. He's a Shih-Tzu/Terrier mix of some sort. He is a great dog - super funny, happy go lucky guy.

This is Kellie. We lost her just before Christmas 2005 to bone cancer. She was a Golden Lab/Chow mix. She was awesome. So great with the boys and, as you can see, would let them do anything to her. We really miss her.

It really is. I got lazy and waited with Mattie, and he still has marking tendencies. If we go on walks and he sees a truck or SUV... let's just say he is a boy dog all the way. :rotfl: At least it took care of his tendency to try to make love with any animate or inanimate object that came across his path.

Eragon got done right on schedule and I don't have the marking issues with him at all.

:rotfl2: It totally looks like he's smiliing LOL!!!!

Does anyone have any tips for teaching a puppy not to nip when playing?

Everyone's doggies are so precious; I'm enjoying this thread very much. It's sad, though, to see that some of the dogs have passed on, but being new to dog ownership, I'm now understanding that our dogs are really truly part of our families and loved very much.

Immediately tell them "NO BITE" in an authoritative voice and stand up and walk away. Wait a few seconds then return to playing. This gives an aversive (loud noise) and takes away the reinforcer (playing). In order to continue playing with you they cannot nip.

Here our dog Magic. She is 1 year old.

The picture of her in the washing machine is so precious! You are going to have your handsfull I have a feeling. She also has the most serious face, I bet those eyes get her whatever she wants. :rotfl:

The washing machine pic is adorable!

I'm going to try the NO BITE thing with Brian, but it's hard for me to raise my voice to him, I'm such a sap! I'm just afraid he'll continue the playful nipping and do it to other people who want to pet him.
I bought him some teething toys, too, since he's still growing new teeth.

Is anyone going to have their dogs picture taken with Santa this year?

How did it go with Lucy at the vet today?

She did great! I picked her up after work yesterday. She was very tired and cuddly last night but this morning she's completely normal. It makes me a little nervous. She keeps bringing me her ball and trying to get me to throw it, but I'm not supposed to. She can't have a walk until Monday either, so I think she's getting bored. Thanks for asking!

Awww we had our little MikaBoo spayed a couple weeks ago. She was completely fine so fast...it was weird! Same as your puppy, she wanted to play the next day. She was running around, into walls, as usual haha.
There's a picture of her in my signature!
She's a cavalier, now 7 months :]
