Dedicated December Exercise Thread

84/1200

Walking the dog and then doing a bit more on my own.

I too am loving reading everyone's traditions. With older kids, we don't get up early on Christmas morning. The kids always do their stockings first, then we move to the gifts under the tree. Around lunchtime we head over to my parents house where we do another round of gifts and have dinner. I always wrap gifts on Christmas eve night, go to bed and get up super early to leave them under the tree.

Adding 31 minutes of walking.

76/900

Let me see.....some of our Christmas traditions are riding around looking at lights, going to the Christmas Eve candlelight/communion service at church (which begins at 6:00 and is usually over by 6:45) and then coming home to eat - sweet and sour meatballs, pigs in a blanket - you know, snack stuff. And the kids always open one present each, and it's always new pajamas that they wear to bed that night. Christmas morning, we have a fire, play Christmas music and open presents. Oh yeah, we do stockings first - those are a big deal! Then we have breakfast casserole (with biscuits and grits). Every year. The kids would protest if we didn't! We have prime rib, mashed potatoes and asparagus and rolls for dinner.

One other tradition that has stood the test of time, is we each save a couple of gifts to open Christmas night. My mother can not believe that we (especially the kids when they were younger) have the willpower to wait to open everything! But, it gives us something to look forward to and makes the magic last all day. So Christmas night, we have the fire going, open the saved presents and then my husband reads the Christmas story from the book of Luke while we have hot chocolate.

I love reading about other people's traditions! I am always looking for neat ideas! Love the idea about new stocking every year and decorating with the prior years stockings, MRS AR!

Walked 10 minutes Tuesday and 30 minutes today. So I'm at 40/600 so far.

The walk today was impromptu and involved trying to help a dog find its home after he escaped out of fear we think(our postal lady, and my daughter) after some loud earth shaking booms we had going on(about 8 in a half hour time period). Meanwhile the postal lady was asked about a white german shepherd someone went looking for because of the same reason but definitely not that same dog. He was a boxer pit bull mix. Very very sweet and gentle.

Thought about taking another walk but was raining a light drizzle so will see what its like in the morning.

Okay looked and it had stopped raining so I took a 10 minute speed walking. Just shy of a .50 mile. Yay 50/600

145/1000

30 minutes of cardio that I managed to squeeze in after going to Wizard of Oz rehearsal yesterday. Today DS9 joins the cast for a full run through of the show, his last rehearsal before dress rehearsal on Tuesday. The show opens in 6 days, I can't believe it! Trial makeup is already happening...tried out tin man the other day and trying out scarecrow today. Coming out awesome, can't wait! :)

good morning

42 minutes - mostly walking and some work on these arms.

I could use a serious dose of holiday spirit. It would probably help if I put away my fall/Thanksgiving decorations. Good-bye to orange and earth tones and hello to red and green and lights, maybe this weekend.

Oh hmack I feel your pain. I managed to put fall stuff away before we left for thanksgiving (to visit out of state family) but there's no sign of Christmas in my house yet. It's making it tough for me to be in my usual jolly holiday mood. I'm hoping this weekend we will get the trees up and maybe even a little baking.

A big fat zero minutes of working out for me yesterday. I had to work and then attend a work event last night. I know I should have gotten up early an did it then but I am still recovering from last weekend. Tonight I must do some exercise!

75 minute walk/run this morning ... and I broke my water bottle at the end (I've dropped it on the ground so many times that it was bound to break eventually).

39 minutes for me, a short walk but mosty treadmill time.

143/1000 minutes

I got on the treadmill and my plan was to walk and do hill intervals, a nice lunch break workout. not too sweaty but not a walk in the park either.

And then a college kid gets on the treadmill beside me and I don't know what happened.

I started feeling competitive with a 20 something guy, who probably (let's be honest) barely even noticed my existence. There were a million totally rational reasons why I should have just stayed on track and completed the workout I had planned. but noooo.... I decided to see if I could "race" him on the treadmill and keep up with his speed. bottom line - I'm an idiot. Once the treadmills hit 8.5 mph I was cooked and sweaty. Good thing I gave up, he went all the way to 11 mph. If I had tried that, I probably would have flied off the treadmill.

Lots of walking today. Got in 3 miles total from a combination of 3 walks. First was 1 1/2 miles around the park. Then my dd and I walked to the bathroom which added over another half mile. Then we took an afternoon walk and my totals were 3. It was 90 minutes added up. So I'm at 140/600

Decided to run this morning, I usually workout in the evening. WOW! The gym is packed in the morning!! I think I'll stick to evenings ;) 30 minutes on the dreadmill.

We had our client Christmas party last night and I worked a 14 hour day and was back at work at 8 this morning. I'll be back tonight to update everyone's stats, gonna go have a nap now!

only 15 minutes today - it's not much but I'll take it.
