Decorating your resort room?

Great ideas! Is it true though that we can not use tape on the doors? I heard that if you did, a fine would be put on your state room account. This will be my first cruise, so I am looking for lots of ideas and information/tips.

This will be my first time doing any of the decorations for the doors. Can you recommend some great places to pick up items to use? I heard about the mouse papaer from Home Depot.

I may be a bit nuts or ... but I scrolled thru every posts of this thread.
Great ideas! Thanks for sharing.
I still have 11 months to get ready, so I don't worry. There is just that we will be at the Poly and I know I will put clings (from an inside view) on the patio doors for our DD. We also found magnetic disney characters to put inside the door - telling DD that we had to invite Tink if we wanted her to visit at night... But I really don't know if we would/should decorate the outside door, since it's gonna be in the hallways anyway.

Lots of Pixie dust on your doors and windows!

I had a lot of fun decorating our window at Caribbean Beach Resort in April. Here's what I came up with.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but be sure to bring extension cords is putting up lights. I also use a timer so the lights are on when we come back at night. I like the 3M tabs that come off without marking! Easy clean up once off the window. I went in February and brought Valentine jelly Clings and put them up. Next night I notices others had stuff in their windows. Enjoy your decorations, they are part of the magic!

I mailed mine to the hotel ahead of time so it was waiting for me, also mailed snax, sunscreen , lighters etc only cost about $7 to mail.

Great idea. With the cost of checked luggage going up and up, I just may mail things that we would like to have in the room.

What fun!! We are going in December before the big crowds and I just love decorating for Christmas. I'll have to bring a small tree. If it is not so expensive maybe I'll ship it down. I'm getting so many great ideas here! Of course this will be DH's reaction:eek:! He is not a Disney perosn at all and I have just been obsessed ever since I found these boards! Oh well, I plan on having a great room :woohoo:

maybe it was a mistake venturing into this thread!!! lol!!!! i wanna decorate my room now in september!!! better get to work on that!!! thanks for the ideas!!! :)

When i went last year, we had two connecting rooms, and my friends and i decorated with the mickey paint samples, and we brought some halloween type decorations. When we got back to our room the first day, we had a certificate from the housekeeping staff, and it said we had won the family of the day for decorating, and we got a nice magnetic frame, and complmentary turn down service with some nice chocolates. Decorating is fun, especially if you get some extra attention, and something special!!

When we went last December I decorated for Christmas. Took white lights and hung them around the window, Disney clings and green Mickey heads. I noticed a few others decorated in our resort (POFQ), but POR has way more decorated windows.

Going again in Sept/Oct for DD's 5th b-day. Planning on going all out and decorating the window, door, room walls, bathroom, mirrors, etc. I can't wait. I plan on it being a surprise! After check-in I will be sending DD and her father to the food court for drinks (or something). I will sneak up and QUICKLY decorate. Plan on telling her that Mickey and friends decorated for her b-day visit. Hoping to find a door cover-up themed after Princesses or Mickey! Also, hoping to find pink lights for the window. Gotta start digging in the attic!

Decided to post the pic of our room window from Dec. 2009. It's not the best pic, but you get the idea. I put our names in the Mickey Heads, hung beads and did the Disney window clings.

WOW, that's great! What a special surprise!!!!! :thumbsup2

We love decorating our window. It's so cool to hear people commenting on it and makes it fun to come "home" at night. Never have a problem finding our room without looking at the room numbers. :) Here are some of mine.
