I hear so much about people decorating the room, what kinds of things can people do or allowed to do?
I am going with the kids and it sounds like fun to do this, never did it before.
Thanks

Myself and my daughter cut Mickey head shapes out of the color foam and put them in the window of our room.

I took four Lime Green Mickey heads and wrote my user name on one, my first name on another, my husband's first name on another and my son's name on the last one. I just arranged them on the window. I also found some Disney magnetic frames and put them on the door. I didn't get really elaborate but have seen pictures of other people's window dressing and they were elaborate.

Go to the "Tips" board and you'll see a thread that is very long with lots of pics of peoples rooms and doors that they have decorated. Very cute.:thumbsup2

1) Lots of folks decorate their rooms.
2) And, not just for Christmas season.
3) Just don't use duck tape on walls.

NOTE: IF you want to paint, Sherwin Williams is preferable over Dutch Boy, I think.

We went in Dec last year and stayed at POR. I bought a bunch of those gel window sticky things at JoAnn, they were very inexpensive. We put them all over our window. Didn't take pictures but they were cute.:)

I know $100+ is alot of money just to put streamers, balloons, etc....... you can easily buy this stuff ahead of time and put it in the room when the kids arent there.

Is this commonly done at the deluxe resorts? When I was at the Poly in January, I didn't see any room doors or windows decorated.

We ALWAYS decorate our room!!! Here are a few tips......

Visit the dollar store for affordable decorations you don't mind leaving - Halloween and Christmas ideas are fabulous.

We always ship down a box in advance....warning.....convention hotels will charge you to do this. We generally stay at BWI (BWV next time). To get around this, we spend our arrival night at Riverside -- and see BOB the first day.

Pickup "Contact" hooks and tape. These are designed to be applied to the wall....AND are easily removed without damage.

At Christmas, for example, we had a small tree decorated with lights and flowers from the Dollar Store ($12 total), GIANT snowflakes hung on our balcony along with a Santa windsock and snowman flag, lights on the balcony railing and a christmas door cover on our door.

Halloween - we had "Head on Hildie" <--- $1 witch that looks like the flew SPLAT into the wall, blinking eyes on the glass doors - goblins all over our walls in the room.

Friend's birthday at DL - giant birthday door banner, birthday sign on the balcony of the Grand Californian, silly plastic streamers and lights on the balcony railing, room filled with birthday silliness - birthday banners, signs, had balloons delivered to the room.....so much fun!

It's just part of the Disney fun for us now!
