It has been years since we have decorated our resort window and we will be going back in 26 days (AHHHHHH). I was wondering if there are any rules form Disney about decorating. I have read from a few places that they do not allow tape on the windows but I cannot find any solid information about that. Does anyone have any information?

Housekeeping doesn't like tape on the windows. Many people have been told no tape is allowed.

They will have the parks decorated by then for Christmas so I think it would be completely fine to decorate. I know they decorate the park pretty much as soon as the Halloween decorations come down.

As long as you aren't staying in a DVC resort. DVC has asked guests not to put up any decorations that can be seen from the outside since they compete with the décor of the resort.

I used command picture hangers to put stuff up... Also, we used window clings. I decorated pretty heavily for Halloween a few years back and am planning on doing the same this year for Christmas... Thank heavens I'm not staying in a fancy resort, but at CBR. My wreath and clings would not be welcome there...lol

We have done window clings in the past for Halloween and I did have to use a bit of tape because after a couple of days a few of them didn't want to "cling". I just made sure that I had removed everything from the windows when I took them down! It was nice because we could always find our room!

Last year we were at CSR the week before Christmas and went all out with our window & room decorations. We had never done this before so it was really fun! Window clings, lights, an electric candle, and a light up Mickey ears decoration in our room window - a mini Christmas tree on the bureau - mistletoe hanging from the ceiling fan. On our first night housekeeping brought up some extra towels and when we answered the door the two housekeepers told us how much they loved to see the decorations - especially the Mickey ears! We used suction cups and some bread ties to hang everything up without any damage to the window or room.

:duck: Love it! Wherever did you find light up Mickey Christmas ears?

I have no idea how large the windows are. I would call the resort and ask them and just explain that you would like to decorate it on your visit.

With Disney you'd only be getting the call center who will likely know no more about the dimensions than you do. They answer like they are the resort but aren't.

From my hotelier's perspective I'd only be concerned about whether the decoration causes damage to any services (we'd likely add that to the bill), whether the attachment method causes the hotel to have to do excessive cleaning (we might add that to the bill) and that the decoration is completely removed by the guest when they leave (again might charge for that). In other words, don't do something that would cause extra expense to the hotel.

On top of that, as those who refer to the DVCs point out, some hotels will not allow any decorations for a variety of reasons. Ask at the front desk before you do anything and you won't have problems.
