We will be taking our first trip to WDW next week. We took a Disney cruise last year. On the cruise, we decorated our cabin door, as do many dissers. It was fun for the kids to recognize our room by all the signs. The doors were metal, so we used magnetic paper to decorate.

Does anyone (or are you even allowed to) decorate their hotel room door on Disney properties? We are staying at the CBR if it makes any difference.

Guests at the values and mods often decorate their windows. When we stayed at CBR, we put some of those Christmas clings on our window since it was December and lots of other people did as well. Every value and mod stay we've had, we've seen lots of fun windows. The doors aren't usually decorated since they are magnetic although I have seen some doors decorated, just be sure and bring something to attach the stuff with and bear in mind at CBR those doors face the outdoors and all its elements!

With the windows, you have a large window and a ledge to prop things up. The housekeepers will also sometimes put your kids stuff animals in the window and decorate them for you a bit. They might put a towel animal in your window as well.

Have a great trip and enjoy CBR, we love that resort!

Here is a thread with some fun photos and ideas:

It may be tacky to you, but most of us enjoy seeing the decorations, especially those of us who have kids. Maybe try wearing blinders before you venture down those tacky hallways next time.

We, as do many others, decorate our door at VWL at Chrstmas time. Being from the New Orleans area, we also decorate our door at BWV at Mardi Gras.

We get a bunch of compliments, even from Mousekeeping. How any of it can be described as tacky is beyond me.

I guess Mr. Happy from Wisconsin doesn't approve of his neighbors' Christmas decorations either. I'm one of the biggest grouches on this Board, and I love 'em! :goodvibes

Why be nasty? Haven't you ever heard of "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all?"

It depends on the resort...At both Beach Club and SSR my Sil was told by mgmt to take down her decorations.

We always decorate ---- and we travel without children.

December trips - we have a tree in our room and the door is wrapped like a big christmas gift. Snowflakes and lights on our balcony.

Halloween - Head-On-Hildie is always a hit!

Flower and Garden festival ----- we have hand-made tissue flowers everywhere.

July 4th trips - red, white and blue baby!!!

Valentines day - Red & White and hearts!

We have themed napkins, cups, plates.

One man's cheep and tacky can also be a big smile on a child's face walking by.

Another benefit - we have met so many nice people in the hallway who enjoy our decorations - it's fun to share magic!

Now.....one important thing to remember......everything is taken down before we leave the resort at the end of our stay. We do not write on the windows with markers. We are careful to clean up after ourselves.

One thing we DO try to do at Christmas is give our room tree away --- to our Mouskeeper, once we gave it to a family just checking in for their holiday......someone at Guest Services who has been helpful.

I make a 3 foot tall tree ahead of time with a styrofoam cone and lots of silk flowers. I add a strand of 25 lights and a string or two of some sort of bead garland. For about $20 - it never fails to be GEORGOUS. I ship that ahead with my holiday gifts for local friends - snowflakes and balcony lights.

Does anyone have a link to where I can get the Disney stick figure people made...I looked all over the Dis Creative board and I can't find it.

I must be sooooo tacky.....

As long as when you leave, you don't leave extra work for mousekeeping go for it.

Don't leave tape residue or marker streaks ect. Otherwise have as much fun as the resort mgmt will allow.

I hang a magnet on our door, but for a different reason. I have a sweet mil who has problems seeing, and a magnet allows her to spot her door easily. It does no damage, and we've never had a problem, even at SSR.

I will have to disagree with you - I think the decorated doors are cute.

DH and I decorated our balcony at SSR last Christmas time, and we always decorate my scooter with lights. We are trying to figure out which theme for the lights on our next trip (Jan 23 to Feb 6). We can't decide between snow flakes or hearts

Well aren't you pleasant! :)
Boy do I wish I was YOUR neighbor on vacation! hmmmm:scratchin..where are my musical, flashing, dancing:banana:, multicolored christmas lights...i know i have one of those wreaths that comes to life and sings "Jingle Bells' everytime someone walks by it, somewhere in my closet...:idea:well if nothing else I have the dancing/singing fish that I can take off the living room wall for the week.....

While I think the "tacky" comment could have been worded a little better, I would have to agree that I prefer not to see a lot of decorations on the doors of resorts with interior hallways. I don't mind the window decorating so much, but something about decorating the doors just detracts from the resort ambiance for me. Maybe because the door occupies "shared" space, while the window is technically "private" space. But, it's not my room, and it's not my door, so there's not a whole lot I can do about it. To each his/her own.

I do remember reading some posts, maybe about a year ago, where some of the resorts were asking people to take decorations down, or they were charging a special cleaning fee, or something like that. Does anyone else remember this, and which resort it was? Seems to me it was one of the values, but I'm fuzzy on the details.

WOW!!! Someone who is leading us to believe that people have little class is sure showing us his class by the wording of his post...

I would be ashamed of myself.

People pay to visit the resort because of its themeing. They do not wish to see others ideas of decorating no mater how nice or tacky. At the value resorts themed windows fit in pretty well with the themeing as its bright and bold so a decorated window can be cheerful.

Decorating the inside of rooms where only you will see is great too, sticking the latest creation your child has made on the doors is not.
