I have a general idea what I want to do to my kitchen, but I can't quiet put a name on it. I was thinking it was French Country, but my on-line searching is proving me wrong. I do not want to pay $10.99 to look through a magazine, so I know my friends here can help me out. Anywho, I want classic, understated but comfortable.

I want to paint my kitchen a "clean" powder blue. My appliances are white and the cabinets are a medium finish. They need to be replaced but for now they need to stay. The problem is there is pergo flooring in a lighter color than the cabinets. Right now the kitchen table I have planned for the kitchen is a dark chestnut. I know there are too many woods in here and am considering a white round pedestal table.

I want the powder blue, with white wooden blinds and silver accents. Does anyone have any ideas they want to share? Oh, the counters are just a beige color.

Get yourself over to gardenweb.com...the kitchen forums (message boards). There you will find a huge gallery of finished kitchen pictures plus a forum of people who take kitchen design very seriously. They have a knowledge base like no other. When we were remodeling our kitchen, the people on those boards were extremely helpful (and friendly). On that site, you will see everything from the simplist of kitchen facelifts to major gutting to designer kitchens.

Also try rate my space on hgtv.com, some people ( and designers ) post some beautiful stuff. There was one house that was done all in the white/powder blue color scheme, and it was gorgeous. It had a lot of black and silver accents. Also, try craigslist or your local thrift store for a table and paint it. Very French Country, and more than half the cost.

I want to paint my kitchen a "clean" powder blue. Nice My appliances are white and the cabinets are a medium finish. Medium oak? They need to be replaced but for now they need to stay. Could you paint them white? The problem is there is pergo flooring in a lighter color than the cabinets. Right now the kitchen table I have planned for the kitchen is a dark chestnut. I know there are too many woods in here and am considering a white round pedestal table. Go with the white round pedestal table. Dark wood sounds like it would be out of place.

Actually, other than the dark table, it sounds nice. Can you paint the cabinets white? I might do that.

is there any living room help fourms out there or bedrooms? my kitchen is curently the only room i like.

I agree with painting the cabinets white, or if you don't want to paint the cabinets maybe opt for a splash of color on the table. The right red or a creamy yellow would look very nice with powder blue, then paint the chairs a few different colors or a single complimentary color. The kitchen sounds lovely the way you have it planned though! I just like a pop of color here and there.

I just modge podged my kitchen table in fun scrap book paper (I got the table for free, so I figured why not?). I love it!

when you paint oak, you'll still be able to see those lines through the paint if you don't use a primer or something to "fill" them in. Look online at Southern Living, Architectural Digest, etc, you'll see a ton of rooms you can pull ideas from. Maybe white with a champagne glaze over them? Sometimes white cabinets can be too stark. I love the cabinet pulls that are half-moon shaped, they can be a bit pricey but they're worth it.

Go check gardenweb.com - under the forums area. They have a ton of other forums - electical, decorating, bathroom, organization, etc. They just very well may have one for bedrooms or living rooms. I just never looked for those in particular. I would bet that they do.

OP, your color scheme seems more Swedish than French because Swedish design has lots of blue and white.
