Decorating Doors

Wow...$6.99 is a good deal...I'll have to check out our Hobby Lobby.

....and keep your eye out for their 40% off coupons in the Sunday newspaper (or their website), too! They're not there every week, but just about every other week.

Here's my door from our 4/25 cruise!

Cant wait till our cruise to show off our magnets that was from our ANGEL :worship: ;)

Has anyone had anything stolen off their doors? I heard to make sure and personalize everything to avoid this, but is it common to have things go missing?

We did not have anything stolen from our door. I have read on previous threads to write your cabin # and stuff on the back, but I didn't do it and we did not have any problems. There are probably going to be a few people that might have had a problem, but I don't think it's a huge problem on the ship overall.

I think the cases of magnets going missing are the exception rather than the rule, but it can and does happen.

They've also been known to go wandering. (folks just goofing and moving them, not flat out stealing them) Putting your stateroom number on your magnets, even if just on the back, might help in those cases.

We've never had magnet problems, but I also go much more low key than the pictures on this thread. ie: just a couple of magnets, so it would be really obvious if someone took or moved one.
Some folks make so many, I don't know how they'd even notice if one was missing or moved. ;)

All of our magnets were personalized with our names on the front. We also made magnets out of the Home Depot paint chips that we didn't personalized and were given magnets as FE gifts that also weren't personalized. We didn't have anything stolen.

But I definitely think personalizing them helps deter theft! :thumbsup2

By the way, I forgot to comment on the magnetic paper. I bought 3 kinds:

- Avery
- Staples
- Hobby Lobby

The Hobby Lobby paper was too thick to feed through my printer so I had to return it. The Staples and Avery paper worked well but I'd recommend the Avery paper over all of them because it's cheaper. I bought mine on Amazon.com.

I made about 100 paint chip magnets and gave away 50-60 to kids who loved them. There is nothing greater than making a kid smile by giving him/her 4 or 5 magnets for their door.

If anyone had taken any of our magnets, then I just hope they enjoy them. It really isn't a big deal for me to make more for next time (or reprint them again).

I'm not spending my vacation time putting stuff on and off the door. How silly.

You are entitled to your opinion and how you spend your time. Please don't put down others who have fun doing that. It doesn't hurt you or anyone else for someone to decorate their own door.

As someone else said, it's your opinion but don't pass judgment on others that enjoy it.:snooty: :stir:
And isn't "silly" something Disney does well?:cheer2: We just let the Disney bug bite us.
I personally always have a hard time remembering my room numbers wherever I go so I'm looking forward to doing mine. And no, I don't drink.

I am glad to hear that theft isn't a huge problem, I mean I would be super jealous if I had a naked door!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm soo glad we decided to decorate our door on our cruise! It was soo much fun and didn't take much time at all to do! Here's our door on the first day. By the end of the cruise we had a lot more decorations thanks to some of the wonderful gifts in our fish extender!!! (P.S. we don't even have children and had a great time decorating the door and the FE exchange).

The blue magnet in the middle is our cruise itenerary. I also had a magnet of the cruise ship and each day I would move the ship one more port over!

We did have some magnets stolen on our cruise. We were on deck 7 near the aft. The magnets did not have any personalization or cabin number on the front. It only happened one night, but after that I would take the magnets in at night and put them out again in the morning. :)

. . . and if that's how I want to spend my vacation, who is anybody to criticize. :snooty:

....The Hobby Lobby paper was too thick to feed through my printer so I had to return it.....

Passing along a suggestion of something I did with some of mine....

I printed the graphics off on cardstock then took a gluestick to it and adhered to the magnetic paper. It's another step, but since I had attempted to get one sheet through the printer unsuccessfully, it was a quick fix solution.

Cute idea with or without "official" children! :)

We're all kids at heart if and when we choose to be! :thumbsup2 On my last cruise, it was my grandmother (76), my mom (58), and me (30-something :rotfl2: ). Each of use really enjoyed the FE exchange and had fun with the magnets!

This thread has been cleaned up and many sarcastic and argumentative posts have been removed as well as the responses to them. Please take a moment to review the DIS board guideline:

4. NO FIGHTING/SARCASM: While we'd like to think that a Disney fan site is always lighthearted, there are times when there are disagreements. Let's face it, there are certain topics that can transform any of us into a raging "Donald Duck." When you sense this is happening, we ask that you step away from the discussion before it escalates into a fight. Just like Mom always said about fighting, we don't care who started the argument and we don't want it on the DIS. (Okay, she didn't say the part about the DIS, but you know what we mean.) No attacking others and no sarcasm please. Either will result in an infraction

Any further posts of this nature will be removed and infractions issued. Please remember that the ignore function works wonderfully. :)

Thank you!

+1 :thumbsup2 We also don't have kids (thought we are kids at heart) and you saw our door! We also did the FE exchange and loved it!

2 of ours, 1st from The Wonder Mar 08, 2nd Magic Oct 05.
2 months to doing it again:thumbsup2
