Decorating a tin album

I just finished scrapping our anniversary trip. Two square tin albums (by DCWV)were used for my project.

Now, what should I do to finish the exterior? I tried decoupaging using cardstock. Somehow it didn't look right and I ripped it off.

Any ideas and photos of what you have done would be great! Thanks!

i have done some tin projects..some left just plain..others covered in a coat of paint.
just be sure not to paint the edge..it will forever stick..lol..
